Welcome to Somnium.
Where dreams come true.
A place where there is no more war. No more crimes. No one goes hungry. Seems perfect, doesn't it? The whole country is beautiful. In the cities, awesome skyscrapers rise high into the clouds, so tall that the tops cannot be seen. The countryside has beautiful trees and plants. Like the picture on a postcard. There is the usual bustle of people during the day as they go about their life. Until the sun goes down. Almost as if a switch was flicked, the cities go silent. Everything goes dark. Not a light can be seen in all of Somnium.
That's because everyone's dreaming.
These people in Somnium are called Dreamers. At night they go inside and they sleep. And they dream. With the help of the Government issued DreamMakers they can make anything happen in their dreams. It's as easy as pushing a button. All your problems can go away for the eight hours you close your eyes and drift off to sleep.
Hidden in society though, there are nonDreamers.
One such person, is a girl named Rain Jackson. All her life, she has been told how the nonDreamers are bad. It's in all the textbooks. In every story they are read at bedtime. Its taught in all the schools. NonDreamers are plague to the calm order of Somnium, and they deserve death. Of course, there were supposed to be no nonDreamers left. They were all supposed to have died in the War of Dreams. A fight between Dreamers and nonDreamers. The war was long, but the nonDreamers lost, and all were executed. Men, women, children. Everyone.
They should've all been gone. There are rumors though, of course. Urban legends, that there are still some nonDreamers left. Rain knows these are true.
She's one of them.
