I sat in the stands alone since Sam wasn't here and watched Peyton's practice. He didn't play like he had yesterday, he seemed... distracted. About what I didn't know.
After he got pummeled by the smallest kid on the team, me and apparently the coach thought something was up.
The coach told him to go home.
Peyton didn't yell or struggle or anything he just skated away into the locker room without a word. The only thing he did was glance up at me. I gave a small smile but it wasn't returned.
I got up and walked to stand outside the locker room door to wait for Peyton. When he got out he didn't even look at me.
"Peyton! What's wrong?" I grabbed his arm to stop him and he turned his head to look at me and he had a look of anger on his face.
I let go of his arm scared and backed away. Why was he acting this away?
"Nothing was wrong until you showed up." He seethed.
"What did I do?" I stuttered as I found myself trapped in front of a wall.
"I can't get you out of my head." He mumbled to himself but I couldn't hear a word he said.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing. Just nothing. I'm sorry I scared you..." he said pausing to close his eyes. "You didn't do anything. I was taking my anger out on you cause I was mad at Brian." He said plainly.
"Oh. Why?" I asked.
"Would you stop getting into my business?" He said annoyed.
"Okay." Is all I said and looked down.
By the time our convo was over, the other guys had gotten out of practice. Before Peyton could walk away again, I asked him one last thing.
"Could we go ice skating?" I asked sheepishly. I hadn't gone skating in forever and I suddenly had a big urge to. Plus I had brought my skates with me.
"Sure. Do even know how?" Peyton asked smirking.
There's the old Peyton back. I think he is on his period because of all these mood swings.
"Yes! I'm actually pretty good." I said bragging.
"Pretty good at what?" I heard Brian say from behind me. "Kissing?" He whispered in my ear making me blush.
I looked to see Peyton and saw that he was pissed again but I just ignored it.
"No- I don't know." I stammered. "I was talking about ice skating." I said smiling.
"Oh so the Cali girl can skate?" He said raising an eyebrow.
"Yep." I smiled with pride.
"I see you also know how to pick a good team now that you've spent time here in Canada." He said smirking.
"No. This isn't even mine. It's Peyton's." I said but as I said it Brian gave Peyton a not so nice look.
What was that about?
"Okay I gotta go, bye guys." Brian said, but before he could go he slipped a piece of paper in my hand and whispered something to Peyton. He's weird.
I looked down at the paper and saw a phone number and then a call me. I'm not sure if I want to. Brian was acting weird and the way Peyton looked at him when I was with Brian made me uncomfortable. I didn't like how he was mad and if him and Brian are friends then why is he doing that and why is it that he got mad at me? Was it about Brian being around me? But why? Was he jealous or something? But why would he be jealous? I'm just a California girl and I'm not even a good looking one. I'm just average.
I mean I don't think I look bad but I don't think I'm a "one". No I don't think he's jealous. I think he is just having mood swings.
"So we are gonna skate?" I said awkwardly shoving the paper in my front pocket.
He looked at my pocket then at my face and just nodded.
He went to go get me spare skates but then I took my white figure skates out of a duffle bag I brought and held them up for him to see smiling at him.
"I guess you do know how to skate." He chuckled half heartedly.
We laced our skates on and then went into the rink. When I got onto the ice I skated across the rink and back hockey stopping; causing ice to get all over him causing me to giggle.
He smiled at me, a real smile this time and started to skate with me. We raced each other and soon I grew tired and sat at the home team bench.
"Tired already?" He joked leaning on the rail.
"Yes. It's not like I have hockey practice everyday like you." I said still a little out of breath.
"True. But honestly speaking, you are a really good skater." He said smiling down at me.
"Thanks. I'm sure that took a lot to admit." I chuckled.
"More than you know." He said laughing.
I then got up and started skating again. I noticed a hockey stick in the away teams bench and grabbed it and a hockey puck and started to skate with it and then I made a slap shot and made it but it caused me to fall down on my butt.
"Nice shot and landing." Peyton laughed skating over.
He held his hand out to stand me up again, but I yanked him down with me causing him to fall on top of me.
"Nice fall." I mimicked.
But then I noticed our faces were inches apart and didn't remember the reason why I pulled him down.
He started to lean in and so did I, but at the last second he pulled away and got off of me.
"I can't do this." He said.
"Why?" I asked confused. I hadn't realized I liked him until he waved himself in front of me. I wanted him to kiss me so bad. I had just met him but when he had touched me and we were inches away from kissing, I felt sparks and butterflies that my heart just can't ignore.
"I told Brian he could have his chance with you first and I couldn't interfere." He stated. "That's the favor he asked of me when I asked him to come pick us up yesterday." He said punching his fist into the glass. Thankfully it's just called glass and not real glass.
"That is so stupid. You can't make me just a name you throw around." I said getting up. "And I would never go out with Brian, he seems weird no offense, and he doesn't seem like a good friend." I said. "And by the way, I like you, not him. Thanks for wasting my time." I said skating off the rink.
"Bree wait!" He skated off the ice and walked towards me grabbing my arm like I had done so many times to him today.
I turned to look at him and he kissed me passionately. He then released the kiss and smiled down at me.
"I wanted to do that since this morning when you wore my jersey. You looked so cute and hot at the same time." He said making me blush. "I hadn't thought anything of it when he wanted a chance with you first, but your an addiction I can't resist." He said pressing his lips back on mine. My heart was racing. It's never done that for anyone before. Peyton was special.
