When I woke up, I was being dressed by the same two Mikaribaba. It would’ve looked like a wedding dress had it not been for the black theme and red highlights.
“What the…” I muttered.
“We have been assigned to dressing the new Empress for her coronation ceremony. There will be a festival and then the Empress shall present her new people a dance.” The answered together.
I didn’t know what dance they were referring to. Actually, when was this all planned? How long have I been out?
I voiced my questions and was answered, but not by the Mikaribaba.
“You were out for a couple of days, so we stepped up to help make the plans. And don’t worry about the dance. Meruxil said you’d know the dance when the music came on.” I turned to watch Layton and Taiga walk in. They both wore tuxedos, but while Layton wore a black one, Taiga wore a white one.
“Quite the ensemble,” I commented with a smile.
“You, too! The dress suits you perfectly. Especially-” Layton stopped with oomph.
Tally and Amalie had both elbowed him in the side.
“Oh my gods! You look fantastic!!” Tally came running over and squealed in my ear as she hugged me.
Tally wore a short pink cocktail dress with an enormous bow on the waist. Amalie wore a knee-length purple dress that was very business-like.
“Wait…what…?” This is where I started freaking out.
“Layton told us,” Amalie informed me.
“I mean, we were freaking out at first, but then things started fitting together and it made sense. I always wondered how you got a familiar and how said familiar was super strong. But you being the Demon Emperor’s daughter made perfect sense! Not to mention the whole two Weapons deal! I still remember the day when you walked down the stairs all cool like and showed up Jonah! Everyone thought you were a black magic user. That wasn’t fun. Oh, and when you and Layton started fighting at the after school classes-”
Amalie put her hand over Tally’s mouth. “That’s enough, Tally.”
“My, my. I almost thought we weren’t going to be able to talk to you before the coronation!” I looked up to see Sister Shelia and Reverend Mother.
They both hugged me and congratulated me.
“We almost thought you wouldn’t make it through, but look! Here you are! Becoming the Empress of the Underworld!”
“But…doesn’t that mean after this, we’ll be enemies?” I couldn’t help but be depressed at the thought.
“Oh, heavens no! This is a wonderful chance to end the 6,000 year war between demons and humans! And, are you not a Wielder of the Academy, as well?” Reverend Mother said and winked at me.
I smiled slowly.
But that also means I have to go to school like a normal human…on top of being Empress?! I mentally face-palmed.
“Pardon our rudeness, but the Empress needs to finish getting ready,” the Mikaribaba said in unison.
Sister Shelia squealed and escorted everyone out.
Suddenly, the realization that I was going to be the new Empress, ruler over all Underworlds, sunk in.
“What if I mess up? What if something goes wrong and I make a fool of myself? What if they don’t like me?” I felt my palms start to dampen and my face heat up.
“Rest assured, Your Majesty. If you just be yourself, then it will be fine. They will be just as captivated as we were when we first saw you.” I glanced at the Mikaribaba. My heart fluttered and I felt myself smiling.
“Thank you.”
