The cold, pure snow fell from the gray sky and onto the land of Victorian Britain. Everyone was happy. Children were playing in the snow with their parents' watchful eye protecting them, happy couples in their furs walked arm in arm, and the busy roads were full of carriages gliding through the slush.

In the park, separated from the playing children was a young lady of about 13. She sat on the frozen stone of the fountain with a sketch book and pencil in her hands. Her topaz eyes were trained on the intricate designs of which the bare trees grow. Her gaze was broken when a couple bearing the same ebony hair walked towards her. A smile spread across her fair-skinned face as she closed the book and walked towards her parents.

"Enjoy your free day, Rayven?" the man asked, flashing her a sweet smile.

Her eyes glistened. "Yes! Very much, father!" The woman chuckled and smiled.

"Come now, it's getting late. We shall make our way home now." She held out her free hand and Rayven gingerly held it in her own. The happy family walked back to their manor, unaware that their lives were about to change forever.
