Rayven's POV
The silhouette of the Winthrop manor loomed in the rising sun's light.
"Milady, what have you been clutching in your hand this entire time?" Ezekiel asked as he raised an eyebrow and pointed to my left hand. I honestly forgot myself, so I gingerly opened my clutched fist. I gasped as I saw the black rose still in perfect condition, despite my aching knuckles. He chuckled. "And you have the feathers I left for you as well." My eyes widened.
"So that's why you seemed to be so familiar!" I shouted. He nodded and held me in one hand as he opened the door.
The creaking sound of the door opening on the hinges echoed in the empty living space sending a shiver down my spine.
"It seems they cleaned up the place." He muttered and walked in, and closed the door behind him. It was too dark for me to see anything, but Zeke seemed to be able to see just fine as he walked up the stairs and brought me to my room. He snapped his fingers and a single candle lit up, illuminating my large room. I looked around, not a single trace of the shattered glass, but a cold draft came from the window.
He set me down on my bed. "The sun should be rising soon. I guess I should get as much sleep as I can." I yawned and fell backwards on the bed.
"Are you sure, milady? Aren't you worried about that person coming through the window?" he asked, a warning tone creeping in his voice.
I shivered at the thought. "W-well I know you'll defend me. As a matter of fact, why don't I make use of the contract." I smiled cheekily, sat up and pulled down the sleeve. "I order you to protect me from anyone that means harm towards me." The mark glowed slightly and burned a bit. Ezekiel's eyes glowed fuchsia and he smiled.
"Yes, milady." He said and got down onto his knee, bowing with his hand over his heart.
