BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
The alarm clock went on and on and it gets annoyingly louder, I guess that was my cue to get back to my world. It was just a dream and I repeated that for about three times to convince myself. I winced to check the time and stretch my hand out to reach the bedside table and to stop the wailing noise that pounds my head on an early Saturday Morning.
I stood up in a tiny yet decent room but our disorganized things seem to make our place a lot smaller. We moved in early to our dorms to avoid the hassle of packing and unpacking our things before the semester starts.
I’m not a very good morning person; I went straight to the bathroom, rubbed my eyes and still felt some water trail. I’ve been crying while I’m asleep once again. I wiped it off then looked at myself in the mirror. There are dark circles just below my eyes and without being serious; I try to scare myself for a second. I looked like one of those characters in ghost movies. My hair and my bangs are also all over the place, kind of missed my long and straight brunette hair since I had it cut short just around my chin. I gave a deep and long sigh; it is nothing but another day.
“Freia Antoinette Oleanders, if you don’t wake up now, we are going to be late!” Sydney, my roommate, yelled while she is trying to open some of the boxes, I guess she’s looking for some stuff.
It is Sydney’s birthday today and it is already our tradition to celebrate it at their family’s rest house at up town. Sydney Morgan may be some rich-spoiled but far away from being brat, she’s one of those people that I found to be amusing and you’ll never know what she’s up to. Most of the time, she’s just really fun.
I was about to go out to tell her I’m wide awake and I like to ask her if it is her who called me three times while asleep or more like while dreaming. But I suddenly heard a scream, a squeal or something. I guess I have to go out with toothbrush in my mouth to see what happened to Syd.
“OMG! Bestie, I sooooo love you!” she said while gleaming with smile up to her ears.
“You scare the s*** out of me! What?” I exclaimed but now I know what got her so hyped.
She was holding the Maroon 5 concert tickets that I left at her bedside table before we sleep last night. It was sold out now and she was really devastated that we cannot go just because we’re unable to reserve tickets. We’re both fans and yes, we adore Adam Levine!
“You didn’t tell me you got us tickets! What if I bought and booked us twice?” she glared.
We have been friends since we’re little and we understand each other completely more than anyone else in this world. She is more of doing-things-on-impulse type while I, on the other hand, am more of the plan-ahead person. I checked the concert schedule last month and purchased it knowing that it will be a perfect and a timely gift for her.
“It is because it was meant to be a surprise, Happy Birthday Syd!” I replied.
She hugged me but panicked as she looked at her watch. We’re about to be late. We hurriedly check to see if we left anything important and then off we go downstairs.

We finally arrived at Janus Griffin’s house, we saw him standing at the porch of their mansion-like house waving towards us. He then embraced Sydney as soon as she gets out of the car; he was taller than her and his eyeglasses almost fell. He greeted her then handed the flowers. She gave him a quick kiss on a cheek to thank him then she raised her right hand and messed up his jet black hair the way she likes it. Normally, Janus gets annoyed every time she does that but considering it is his girlfriend’s birthday, he is letting it go.
