"How're you feeling?" I ask Jackson as he sits down at the table with a bowl in his hands. "I'm doing... Alright." He says, pouring milk into his bowl.
I hand him the cereal, Mark watching him pour the cereal into the milk. "You're just like dad." He snickers, Max shaking his head. "That's not a bad thing." I say, Jackson frowning. "I am nothing like dad." He says confidently.
"Don't trash talk me." Vic says in a hurt tone, coming into the kitchen and pressing a small kiss to my cheek. "Yeah Mark, don't trash talk dad." Max teases, Mark rolling his eyes.
"Shut up." He mutters, Jackson silently eating his cereal as he does whatever on his phone. "I'm taking them to school." I say, Vic raising an eyebrow. "I took off this morning and you're leaving me?"
"Yeah, he's the better dad." Max says, Mark giggling. Vic gives us a hurt look, grabbing the newspaper i brought in just minutes ago. "Max you dumbass you're gonna get hit!" Mark shouts, laughing wildly as Vic goes to swat the twins with the newspaper.
"No cussing in my kitchen." I say sternly, Vic chasing the twins out of the area. "Ow! This is child abuse!" Mark yells, Max yelping in agreement.
Jackson rolls his eyes, finishing his cereal. "I'm gonna get my bag." He says, standing and walking past me. I grab his arm to get his attention and he rips it from my grip. "Jackson?"
He doesn't face me, instead he pulls his arm to his chest. "Are you sure you're okay?" I say softly, reaching out to put a hand on his shoulder.
"Dad I'm fine." He says harshly, looking at me for a split second before making his way out of the kitchen towards the stairs.
I watch him go, frowning slightly. Vic comes back into the kitchen, laughing before seeing me. "Hey, what's wrong?"
He comes forward, taking my hands in his. "I-... There's something wrong with Jackson. He isn't... Happy anymore." I say softly, looking at Vic.
He frowns, pulling me into his arms and resting his chin on my head. "He's going through a rough time, and we'll help him with that."
I sniffle and curse myself silently as warm tears slide down my face. "Babe...." Vic says softly, pulling back and sighing when he says my tears. "I-I'm sorry." I whimper, wiping my eyes. "You don't need to apologize, we'll make everything at school stop okay? I'm coming with." Vic reassures, rubbing my shoulders softly.
"Okay?"
I nod softly, letting him cup my face, bringing me in and pressing his lips to mine. Our lips move together slowly, my hands holding his arms.
He pulls me closer, moving his hands to my hips. I wrap my arms around his neck, gladly opening my mouth when I feel his tongue swipe against my lips.
"Ew! Dad and Papa are kissing!"
"Ew! Let me see!!"
I pull away and let my forehead rest against Vic's. "We gotta take the kids."
-
"I'm driving!" I say.
"Shot gun!" Mark shouts. "Wait uhm, no I'm the dad I have shot gun."
"Too bad I called it first." Mark says, running out the door towards the van. "Marcus William Fuentes!" Vic shouts, chasing after him.
I sigh, smiling softly as I help the kids into their coats and shoes. I watch as Mark jumps into the front seat.
Vic yanks on the door handle multiple times, Mark smiling widely. "He locked it! Unlock the door!"
