How much heat can the human body endure until it explodes into millions of tiny pieces?

Well, tonight was definitely the night to find out.

It was only the beginning of May and a huge heat wave had settled in, making itself comfortable in your tiny bedroom. You laid on the bed, sweat dripping down every body part you possessed. The air was oppressive, retreating out of your lungs only to ambush them again, seconds later.

You groaned, rolling over to face a sleeping Newt. Even with the heat, he still managed to look attractive. His eternally messy ginger hair was glued to his sweaty forehead. You peeked at his freckled shoulder that had emerged from the sheets that swaddled him. He looked so peaceful. It almost pained you to wake him. Almost.

"Newt?" You whispered tentatively, "Are you awake?"

No answer.

All you could hear was the low rhythm of Newt's breathing, his body shifting a bit in his sleep. You rested your face against his pillow, inches from his, the heat from his body caressing your cheeks.

"Newt?"

"Hmm?" His eyes stayed shut but Newt was definitely awake now.

"I can't sleep."

"Well neither can I if you keep talking," he said, his voice gruff from sleep, never bothering to open his eyes.

You prop yourself up on your elbow, "So what do you suggest I do then?"

Newt rolled over so that his back was facing you, pulling the sheets over his head.

"I dunno, go feed the Bowtruckles or something," he said grumpily.

"I fed them before bed," you say shaking your head. "Besides if it's too hot to lay here unconscious then it's definitely too hot to walk all the way to the case, climb down the stairs, an-"

Newt pushed the blankets off of him with a heavy sigh, finally opening his eyes, "How am I supposed to help you then?"

"Erm." You struggled to meet his gaze. You obviously hadn't thought this far ahead and Newt knew it.

"Exactly," he said flopping down on the bed. His eyes were closed once more and he was pinching the bridge of his nose. The two of you laid there, side by side for a couple minutes, listening to the house creak and shift in the silence.

"I'm just saying, it's literally one thousand degrees in this room. I don't think I've ever been this physically uncomfortable. It's a complete and utter sauna," you finally spoke, flinging your legs and arms out so that you were laying spread-eagled on your side of the bed.

"Y/N..."

Newt's tone was low and rough, making you look over.

You caught a glimpse of his bare chest before you found yourself staring into his green sleep filled eyes, lying beneath him. Pressing his rough hands on your shoulders and pinning you down to the bed, he moved his lips next to your ear.

"If you don't stop complaining about how hot it is..."

You shivered as his hot breath found its way to your already damp neck, "I'll have to give you a reason to be hot." To give a proper example of what he was talking about, Newt dug his teeth into your exposed neck.

With that, Newt rolled over to face the wall leaving you stunned and just a little warmer than before

With that, Newt rolled over to face the wall leaving you stunned and just a little warmer than before.

Brushing your fingertips over the location of the bite, you tried to find some words.

You finally managed to squeak out an, "Okay..." but as you turned, you realized Newt had already fallen back asleep.

"Cheeky bastard."

Grinning madly, you finally drifted off to sleep, with thoughts of Newt filling your dreams.
