After everyone got inside the house. Alma and the four big wards cooked their suffer. It was a miracle that they fit inside the kitchen which happens to be smaller than theirs in Wales. After the cooked they served foods on the table Alma called the children and they prayed first before they all begun eating. The supper went well but nobody dared to talk they all just threw silly glances to each other but their headmistress wasn't included.
As usual Emma and Olive were the the ones who collected all the dishes and washed them all. Miss Peregrine ordered all of them to change their clothing into a nightwear. Since they only have 2 bathrooms she had to wait for all of them to be done before she could wash herself and get changed so while everyone was busy she decided to smoke her pipe outside she was on her way to open the door when she suddenly heard loud knocks. Her brows furrowed and her sharp eyes looked straight to the door she slowed down for a bit and went back to the living room to get her crossbow, she loaded it first with a bolt then ventured to the door.
She breathed in heavily and let out a sigh. She tighten her grip on her crossbow, her index finger ready to pull the trigger anytime. She twisted the knob and the door swung open.
Her grip on her weapon loosened, her concentration was gone, her eyes blinked for more than five times. She felt her heart beat became rapid. Her pupils were locked on the figure standing in front of her. She couldn't believe who she was seeing, she felt like her nose was stung by one of Hugh's bees. Her eyes was welling up while her jaw was quivering. She opened her lips to say something but the only sound of silence escaped. Then she shut the door closed creating a very loud noise, Alma thought that she was dreaming then she heard some light knocks again she opened it and saw the same figure standing in front of her.
The man she cried over for about months was standing in front of her breathing the same air she breathes, a tear fell on her left cheek but she barely noticed it. The only sound that was edible for their hearing was each others breaths and the breeze of the cold air.
All of the emotions she was bearing was released through the tears streaming down. She couldn't believe it. Her hands were too weak so she lost her grip to the crossbow, it fell on the ground but she didn't seemed to mind it everything around them became nonexistent. She was looking at him just like the first time she saw him walking on the path way in the academy, just like the first time her heart beated so rapid because he smiled at her.
"Alma" Oliver managed to say. He reached out his hand over her face, he gently brushed the back of his hand on her left cheek down to her jawline to her chin.
"Oliver"She said then she started sobbing. Oliver wrapped his arms around Alma and pulled her closer to him, she was crying in Oliver's arms. Her head buried on his chest, she could sniff Olivers alluring scent,After a very long time she felt protected again.
Oliver never wanted to remove his arms around Alma but then he remembered why he was there "Your husband might see us" Oliver said and pulled away from Alma, it was killing him deep inside he knew his body didn't wanted to leave Alma's but his thoughts were pulling him away, distancing himself to the woman he ever loved.
Alma frowned and cupped Oliver's face, her thumbs brushing his cheekbones, Oliver was avoiding Alma's gazes "look at me in the eyes Oliver" she said, a girl like Claire could tell that it wasn't begging at all but an order. Oliver found his way again back to Alma's gazes. He saw her smiling "I'm married to no one" She said Calmly while shaking her head. Oliver's face was priceless at the moment Alma said those words he looked like he regain his soul and heart again.
His eyes sparkled with hope and love while staring in the window of another soul. He couldn't help his emotions he held Alma's waist and pulled her again closely to him. His one hand resting on Alma's back for support while the other one was fondling Alma's skin from her cheeks tracing to her jaw down to her neck and shoulder then to her elbow. He was looking for any changes but he didn't find any of it, he looked once again to her, her eyes were closed. Oliver leaned his forehead to hers the side of their nose caressing each other his lips were only centimeters far away from hers, he can feel her heavy breathing the fast movement of her chest.
He was about to touch her lips with his when "Mama?" Alma's eyes flickered open and immediately pulled away to Oliver's body, her back was facing the little one who interrupted them. She turned around but she didn't expected that thirteen pairs of eyes were pinned on her. How long they have been here? She asked to herself, her air passages were like all clogged she couldn't breath properly like somebody was choking her. All of her children were complete, blocking the corridor they were all properly aligned line by line like they were going to have a class picture on the first row were the kids in the second line were Fiona, Hugh, Aurelie, Millard and Horace and in the third line was her four big wards.
Her face blushed, she was so embarrassed in front of her children she couldn't move her body nor her eyeballs.
"I believe you must explain us what is happening in here since we are your children and you are our mother" Enoch said stubbornly, he sounded like he was very mad well it was obvious because he emphasized the two words which have a very strong connection to each other.
Alma believed too that she really must.
