I had to wait a day to settle my emotions after finishing this at 2 am the other morning.
What an absolute masterpiece you crafted, again. I don't think it is in you to write anything other than epic beauty - I have often found myself wondering what a modern story of yours would read like though, a romance maybe. I don't even read modern romance but, and I cannot stress this enough, I would read ANYTHING of yours.
Idira's story was so beautifully done, so masterfully done. When I think about the sheer scale of it, the volume of story you created - it actually blows my mind a little. To follow her entire life from a child to a woman and for it never ever to feel boring or slow. I recall every single part of it as though I lived it with her, or perhaps as though it was a TV show I'd binged. She was such a beautiful and pure character. How you aged her was so clever. It was the same child we always knew but gradually, bit by bit, we began to see her turn into a woman just through her thoughts and it was genius. This innate goodness she had just shone off the page and drew you into her and you always ALWAYS wanted her to overcome.
The side characters you drew around her were so well realised - I will never get over Unambi as long as I live. Your loves stories are so epic and painful. VanCleef and Myra, Logan and Idira, even the love between the two mages on The Night's Cutlass - painful and beautiful and so epic. Then, of course, Idira and Khadgar. It was worth the wait. It really was. It didn't matter that I didn't know his legend or his origin, I just believed in him so much because I saw him through her eyes. He was a very special man. Honourable, loyal, and so deeply in love with her.
The ending almost killed me again - UNAMBI - but that my dear is your gift. You are one of the best storytellers I have ever read, ever, and I am so lucky to have found your work. Never stop writing stories, please. Thank you for showing me this world! <3 Sx
In a dimension where it's as easy to be bestial as it is today to pretend to like Vampire Diaries, love prevails. Even if you've never ever heard of Warcraft, withchcraft or Lara Croft, Ms. Carter's delicately poised use of prose will have you salivating, begging for more.
This writer is not one to let you down when coming to writing on the whole. Justice would always prevail here with words everyone. She knows what she's doing and there's a certain level of respect you can see that she has for her own stories and its characters. And I'm not just saying this because she's the author. The evidence is right there in front of your face...all you have to do is read a little.
Everything is beautifully written. The details in her descriptions are precise. Her creativity and originality when coming to settings, character names and use of text/dialect- Unambi everyone. My beloved troll. I would 'lime' (that's trini dialect for me) with him any-day 'mon' (Unambi's dialect).
And I cannot forget VanCleef, whom reminds me of my very own Lane and little Idira, a kindred spirit ever so young yet VERY intelligent.
This story also has some semblance to Warcraft and many of you fellow 'Warcraftians' I am sure would love reading about the little snippets tucked in here and there.
All in all, the story packs versatility. Things that when coming to stories and not just fantasy stories on the whole SHOULD have but are lacking.I'm not a big user of wattpad, but when I found Daughter of Azeroth I was immediately drawn in from the very first chapter. I really like the mash-up of the steam punk/post-apocalyptic/regency setting. I love how she makes you hate and love her characters in equal measure, to the point that I find myself looking forward to each Friday afternoon when I know there will be a new chapter to read. Her writing style flows so well you are totally immersed in her world. In short i really like this book and think it deserves to win.
It's an amazing journey as seen from the eyes of a compassionate and clever girl. I instantly fell in love with the story and continued falling in love, over and over again - because along the way, the smaller details creates a bigger picture, and you start to realize the complexity and the intelligence behind the plot. It is truly thought-provoking and due to the author's flawless way of writing: the imagery is breathtaking. You just can not stop reading.
I love this because Idira's perspective is so precious imbued with the innocence of childhood. The horror's of the adult world as well as some of its beauty are moulding her into someone very magical indeed. All the characters are a dream, even the unsavoury ones. You are simply taken into a world where you become a passenger, a willing traveller who does not want the voyage to stop.
So many long chapters of wonderful writing and characters deserve to gain the attention of more people around.
