Rayn's POV
"Miss Pennifold, Mr Lupin has requested that no one visits him." I hear Minnie call after me, but I was already halfway to the Hospital Wing. This was the fastest I have ever ran. I was pushing a fair few people out of my way.
"Sorry Arthur!" I shouted. The boy I had pushed to the side of the corridor was Arthur Weasley, a Gryffindor boy in our year, I'd talk to him from time to time.
"Don't think on it, Rayn!" He shouted back. I smiled and kept running. Soon enough, I was there. I burst into the Hospital Wing, my eyes scanning for Remus.
"Why are you here, my dear?" The Matron asked me. "Oh, forgive me, my name is Madame Pomfrey. Now, why are you here?"
"Remus John Lupin." I blurted out his name instantly and her eyes grew wide.
"One minute." She shuffled off and went behind a curtain. I heard a faint mumble of a conversation and she was out within a few seconds. "You may see him now." It then occurred to me that I had left the others back with Minnie. Oh well. I dashed behind the same curtain Madame Pomfrey had come from, revealing a scratched up and bruised Remus.
"Hi." He said.
"Remus!" I darted forward and hugged him. He winced. "How on Merlin's earth did you ever do this to yourself?!"
"Um," he seemed nervous, "you must promise not to tell anyone."
This was going somewhere odd. "Anything."
"I'm a werewolf." I was shocked, and it must have shown on my face. He hung his head down in shame, and I picked it up by his chin.
"How?"
"He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named attempted to recruit my mother into his ranks, but she said no. He got revenge on her by sending the werewolf, Fenir Grayback, to bite me when I was walking home from my Muggle School."
"Oh Remus, that's terrible!"
"You won't tell anyone, will you?" He looked desperate.
"Not a soul unless you tell me to."
"Thank you!" Remus sat straight up to hug me, but when he did, he winced.
"Calm down! You'll hurt yourself even more if you do that." I lay Remus back down. "I'd better get back to the others, I'll tell them you've got a really bad cold." Remus nodded, and thanked me again for talking and keeping his secret. "It's no problem Rem, I'll bring you some food from the feast later, bye!" Then I happily wandered back to the Gryffindor common room.
Then I was ambushed by three overly curious boys.
"Is he alright? What's wrong with him?" Peter seems to have finally broken out of being really shy.
"Is it bad?" James. "How bad is it?"
They had been advancing at different speeds but Sirius then tackled me to the floor. "What's happened to Remus? Why did he wonder off? Why the bloody hell was he in the Hospital Wing?"
"OI!" I shouted. They were all silent. I rolled over so I was on top of Sirius and then got up, hauling my friend with me. "It's just like Mcgonagall said, it's like a 24 hour virus or something, he'll be fine by lunch tomorrow."
"Would he like us to go see him?" James asked.
"No. Absolutely not. He doesn't want others catching the virus and he was flustered enough when I went within a few feet of him, and that's saying something." They said it was fair enough and we went up to our dorm to play exploding snap.
~~~~~~TIME SKIP TO SEEING REMUS AGAIN~~~~~~~~
"Hey, you look a lot better, mate." Remus looked up as I walked through the curtains.
"Hello Ray." Remus smiled.
"Brought you your favourite," I produced a tray from behind my back,"medium rare steak, chips, and a big chocolate bar." His eyes brightened and I laughed as he took the tray from my hands and almost literally hoovered it all up.
"Thanks Ray, you're a great friend." He stated as he started on the chocolate, savouring every bit of it.
"It's no problem Rem, and you're a great friend too. Hey, listen, I've come up with a better lie than the '24 hour virus' thing."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah, say that you're going to visit your sick grandmother, and that she requests that you go every month."
The was a short lived silence. "Rayn, that's wonderful!"
I grinned. "Yup, I was that amazing to think of it all by myself." I flipped my hair and Remus laughed.
When I returned to the Gryffindor common room that night, the other boys were as rowdy as ever, and at one point I got into a wrestling match with James. I won. Sirius was going to challenge me to a fist fight, but first I ran out into the common room, to announce my victory, and saw Lily with Snivelous, sitting by the fire, talking and smiling. My vision went blurry with tears, my hair went a mixture of dark blue and grey, remembering that Lily couldn't even glance at me anymore. I trudged back inside our dorm, tears slowly leaking out of my eyes. Sirius saw this and instantly embraced me, telling me that we all still had each other, and everything would be fine.
"He's right, you know." James said. "I once watched a Muggle thing called a movie, it's name was 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' and the Hotel manager was in the deepest of the dumps, his mum's least favourite son, the Hotel close to being taken away from him. He said "We have a saying here in India. 'All will be alright in the end, and if it is not alright, it is not the end'." And the Hotel ended up being okay. You just have to have faith."
I nodded and wiped the tears from my eyes, but my hair colour stayed the same. "I'll be okay." I smiled at my three friends. "So, James, tell is more about 'movies'." Peter, Sirius, and I, all listened intently, and my hair slowly grew back to it's normal length and colour. And eventually, turned light blue. I couldn't wait to see a Muggle 'movie'.
