What Are the Types of Environmental Issues
What place is bigger than US and Mexico combined. The answer is Antarctica. Lots of people think that Antarctica is useless, an icy wasteland, but there are a lot of unique wildlife habitats in Antarctica. There are also a lot of valuable minerals there.
The best use of Antarctica is the money you can make from the Minerals and Oil you can get from there. Others worry about the unique and delicate ecosystems. Some others think that we should build stuff like hotels and ski resorts. Even more people say that we should just leave it untouched.
In 1998, 26 nations agreed to ban mining and oil exploration in Antarctica for 50 years. As resources become more scarce elsewhere in the world, the debate will still rage on.Population Growth
The human population grew very slowly about A.D 1650. About that time, improvements in medical, agricultural, and waste disposal led to people living longer. The human population has been growing faster and faster since then. When a population grows, the demand for resources also grows.Resource Use
Earth provides many materials people use throughout their lives. Anything that occurs naturally in the environment and is used by people is called a natural resource, stuff like trees, water, coal, oil, and a bunch of other things. However not everyone uses everything the same, people uses a lot of other things to use.Pollution
Many environmental factors and contribute to less than ideal conditions on earth for people or other organisms. The contamination to the land and stuff is called pollution. Pollution is caused by wastes, chemicals, noise, heat, light, and other stuff. Pollution can kill wildlife and cause health problems.
Pollution is related to population growth and resource use. As you know, the burning of gasoline can and will pollute the environment.
