Once upon a time,
You said you would one day be a princess,
Wearing a diamanté crown,
A beautiful blue gown,
Eating sugarplums all day,
With your lovely Prince Charming.

You are sitting on the floor,
Your "diamanté crown" now with thorns,
Piercing and prickling just like your memories and regrets,
Your "beautiful blue gown",
Now dull, brown rags to serve as clothes,
Your "sugarplums" and sweets,
Now turned into sweet yet salty sadness,
Your "Prince Charming",
Is not there.
