"But mum, why do we have to move?" I ask as I reluctantly get on the plane to Canada.
"I have already gone through this with you Charley. We have to move because we need a new start!" Replies her mum (Mrs Berry/Amelia) annoyed.
I decide not to ask follow up questions seen as I can already tell that she was getting a little bit annoyed! By the time I find my seat and get comfy the flight attendant has already gone through the safety instructions. As I hear the engines start up I put a wine gum in my mouth because I hate when my ears pop. I hope Canada has wine gums (they are my favourite).
In Canada it is 3 in the morning. We land in a couple of hours so I decide to get some sleep. Unfortunately I am not used to the noise of the plane, which means I can't sleep. I once heard that listening to music helps so I put my music on shuffle. It comes up with a recommended song "Stitches" I don't recognise it and it doesn't tell me who the artist is. Weird! I listen to the song and decide to add it to my playlist on Spotify!
~~~{ 5 hours later }~~~
"CHARLEY wake up!" My mum was shouting at me. Seems like the plane had stopped and the passengers were already making there way off. I checked the time 8 am. I gather my stuff and walk off the plane happy that we had landed.
"Mum, where is my ukulele and it's bag?" I ask ( A/N: a ukulele is a small 4 stringed guitar a bit like a bass).
"Oh, I meant to tell you I couldn't afford to bring them with us, it cost less to buy one here" she replied purposely not making eye contact.
"Oh ... erm .... okay can I go to a store and get another one today then?" I say a bit upset that my mum got rid of my prized possession.
"Yes of course you can. I believe that they is a music store near our new house. You can go after we unpack." She replies knowing that I am disappointed.
~~~~~~~~
Omg, as we walk up to our new house, which let me say is a lot better than our 2 bedroom house that we had back in England, I see a pool. Yes a pool! My mum shows me to my room. It is a decent size a bit bigger than my room back in England, however I have my own bathroom and a walk in wardrobe! Eeek! I am so exited to live here. I will miss my Dad even though we were never that close.
I take a shower because I feel gross after the plane ride. Surprisingly I am not as tired as I thought I would be, seems like jet lag hasn't effected me too much. I get changed into some black jeans a plain dark green top and my white knock-off converse. I dry my blonde hair - which was not short but not long just at an average length - and apply some chapstick and mascara. I tell my mum that I'm going to the shop she offers to come but I tell her I would like to go by myself.
As I walk down the path of my new home I hear the seagulls and I see a sign saying "Welcome to Pickering". Pickering, what a weird name for such a pretty place. I follow the signs that lead to the town centre. When I get there I look for the music store, Mendes Music / Coffee House. I walk in and the bell rings I can see tables and a small stage on the ground floor. There is a sign saying Music and an arrow pointing upstairs, I walk past all of the tables and I get a strong smell of coffee. I like the smell of coffee but not the taste, I know I'm weird. The walls are covered with guitars, violins and luckily a couple ukuleles. I take a look and see two that look in my price range. I decide to come back later and so I start to walk away but not looking where I am going. Oops, I have just walked straight into someone. I start to fall backwards but whoever I bumped into catches me. My cheeks start to turn red in embarrassment. I look at the dude who I bumped into. He has dark brown eyes, and one seems to be lazy. Cute! Brown hair falls over his face and he starts to smile as his cheeks turn redder than mine.
"Hi I'm Shawn" He says once he let go of me.
"Erm ... hi ... I'm" before I can finish my sentence I am cut off with my mum saying my name. She must of known where I had gone. I turn around and she says that we have to go and sign some papers at the real estates.
"Bye, Shawn" I say as I walk off. " Sorry about bumping into you!" I add on
"No worries" He answers in a strong Canadian accent. This is the first time I have heard a Canadian accent and I quite like it.
