Hey so this story is 100% true, honestly. It is a bit sad but I promise it has a happy ending. Um so just enjoy, vote, comment your thoughts. I would love to hear what you have to say, um so yeah, just enjoy. 😎🐓

I had had a great day at school, It was only October but it was really hot. My job was to check the chickens so when I got home I checked Pingo, she was sitting on eggs so we put her in a seperate pen. She was fine, a bit hot but she had plenty of water. Then I went to check on Captain, she was so nice, she was in a seperate pen because she had really bad mites and we didn't want her to give them to the other chooks.

Well I checked on Captain. The pen was Really small so I always let her out to run around. I opened the pen and Captain limp dead head fell on my knee, her face was pale and her body was stiff, she was dead. I ran back to the house screaming for my mum. My dad was there so I hugged him and cried
"Captain's dead!😫😭" Mum came and so did my brothers and sister. They all went outside to see, I sat at the edge if the rose garden and cried my eyes out. Dad asked me if I had checked on the main chook pen yet and I said no and continued crying. My little brother went to check on the main chooks and when he opened the door he screamed
"Tom's dead!!" Tom was a lovely rooster and I just cried even more.

But even though there was so much death, there was also so much life, because at that very moment my sister cried,
"The eggs are hatching!" We crowd around Pingo and I see the most beautiful thing that I have ever witnessed. An egg was cracking, and out popped a little black wet head, and as soon as I saw her, I smiled.

We named the chick Poppet and we still have her now, she lays green eggs and every time I cuddle her I think of the day she was born, we lost two lovely lives, but gained three excellent ones. (We had to give away poppets brothers)
