I stood up, now seriously choking on my TacoBell. Tyrell just watched me, fury and frustration watered up behind my eyes. No oxygen was getting to my lungs, I gasped for air. Tyrell smacked my back a few times, I sat down, wiping tears from my eyes and attempting to catch my breath.
"Why didnt you help me!?"
"I didn't know if you were serious or not."
"I almost died, now I probably have a bruise on my back, did you have to hit me so hard?"
"Don't complain after I just saved your life."
I pushed my grilled stuffed nacho towards him, "This is why I don't like Tacobell. I'm not eating that."
"You let me talk you into it because you like me."
I looked at him, "what?"
"You like me."
"How do you figure that?"
"All the girls like me." He smirked
I laughed, "Not!"
Tyrell laughed along with me, "Nah, i'm joking. But let me take you out sometime."
"What?"
"Let me take you out."
I was suprised by his bluntness.
" And don't say we're out now, this is just a lunch break. It'll be fun, come on."
Tyrell was cute, and he was pretty funny. He also had done me a few favors, because of him I was currently at my lunch break for my second job, so I think I at least owe him a date.
"Alright alright, you can stop begging me now." Half smiling and rolling my eyes.
Tyrell jumped up and started running around the food court, telling random people who were enjoying their food, "I'm taking Briana on a date!"
"You're so silly." I pushed in my chair and started walking back to FootLocker.
Saturday morning I woke up to a text from Tyrell:
goodmorning beautiful, can't wait to hangout with you tonight.
I smiled, decieding I'd text him back later, how lightskinned of me.
Ray was downstaires on the phone. He waved and smiled before continuing his call. I poured a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and was about to head into the living room.
Ray hung up the phone. "Hey Briana, what do you think of me?"
This confused me, "Um, what exactly do you mean?"
"Do you like me? As in, for your mother of course. Do you like having me around?"
"Oh! Yes Ray, of course. You're cool. But you know you'll never replace my dad."
Ray smiled nervously, "Yes I know. I'm not trying to. But I'm glad to hear that. I think we need to spend more time together as a family. You, Wayne, your mother and I. Do you think Wayne would be up for it?"
"Probably."
"Great. I'm taking your mother to dinner tonight, I need you both to come." he said eagerly, almost pleading.
"Um okay, i'll talk to Wayne."
"Thank you Briana!" he flashed me a huge smile and walked out the door.
