Behind the door was a large lounge area covered in pillows, couches, and bean bag chairs. Obviously a separate part from the bustling café in the front, the lounge had only one other person in it besides me and the boy shrouded in green light. This person was a golden yellow color that seemed like countless molecules of shifting sand that obscured the air around them.
"Sherry! Where is the boss?" The boy next to me called.
"He got back a few minutes ago. He is off in a clan meeting. He said he was running late because he had to deal with some troublemaker on the streets." A female voice that came from the golden person said.
"Being a vigilante again? And I was the one that went out looking for him." The boy next to me responded.
"Yea, you know the boss. Apparently being the young heir to the clan makes him think that justice needs to be brought to every little no good human that we come across." She said, and then indicating me "who is he?"
"A kid I found stumbling on the streets." The boy said. "He says everyone just looks like big bright lights and colors."
"Bright colors huh?" Sherry said. "You want me to check him out?"
"If you could that would be great, if you think you are up to the task."
"From the sounds of it he is just a newbie to our world."
"You sure? He is a little old to be just now awakening."
"Wouldn't be the first. You going to go see the boss, Razor?"
"Yea" Razor replied as he walked through one of the doors that led deeper into the heart of the building. Now it was just me and the girl, Sherry.
"Come over here and sit down with me, or do I need to guide you over here like a blind puppy?" Sherry said, teasing me.
"I can see objects just fine."
"Really now?" Sherry said, a hint of intrigue floating towards me through the air. "How about the key to get in here? Did it have color?"
I unintentionally frowned for a moment, whatever was going on, Sherry knew about. "Yea, it did."
"And what color was it?"
"Purple."
I could hear the girl clapping with joy and laughing a bit to herself.
"What is so funny?" I asked.
"Its not funny, its entertaining. I have never seen someone awaken as a Neotha this late in their life. How old are you?"
"16. My birthday is in a month."
The girl gave a little squeal. "Four years late for the oldest kind of Neotha and a year away from being an adult! Wonderful!"
"An adult? This is America, you are an adult at 18."
"In the world of Neotha you are an adult at 17."
This was getting more and more confusing by the minute. This girl continued to interrogate me, but I had no idea who these people were or what I was doing here. "What are the Neotha?"
"Haha, I'm sorry, I guess I forgot what it was like to awaken. You said you couldn't see anyone because they were covered by colors?"
"Yea."
"Alright, so seeing auras makes you a specialist type. What I can suggest you do is to draw the aura away from your head and towards your center." The girl said as she poked his chest, just above his diaphragm.
"My aura?"
"It's like a buzzing sensation. Move it towards your center slowly, shifting through the various parts of your upper cores."
"Upper cores?"
The girl sighed, apparently frustrated with having to explain it all.
"Follow my finger with your aura."
The girl's finger touched his fore head, drifted down between his eyes, past his lips, down his neck, and over his chest till it reached the spot she had indicated.
"Now close your eyes."
I complied.
"Breath, and then open them!"
I took a deep breath, and when I opened my eyes again the colors were gone. In the place of the gold light was a blonde haired girl with a sucker in her other hand and a smile on her face. Her thin frame, shifted towards him on the couch.
"Can you see me?"
"Yes."
The girl held out her soft, delicate hand.
"Nice to meet you, my name is Sherry. Welcome to the Casadin Family's household.
