‘I'm home.’
How long have I been reading? I shoved momma’s diary back into her draw and made my way downstairs to say goodbye to grandma and hello to momma.
Later on my momma made a cup of coffee for herself and brought out juice and biscuits like she does everyday.
‘So. what did you do today honey?’
What did I do? What did I do! I had completely forgot to think of what I could say I was doing.
‘Ummm… Just reading.’
‘Really? Just reading? All day?’
‘yep.’
‘ok.’
phew!
Later on, when I was playing in my room, I was thinking about what I had read today. Why did she write so sadly when writing she was pregnant? I needed to find out more but at that exact time momma called me downstairs.
‘Darling, I have something to tell you.’
‘What is it momma?’
‘Umm… Well… I… i’ve lost my job. So i’ll be staying at home for the next couple of weeks until I find a new one.’
‘umm… OK.’
‘It also means, if we get stuck for money, we might have to sell some things. For example some of our books.’
‘ok.’
You may think that I was fine with everything that was going on but really I was thinking, ‘I need to find out about momma before everything goes. I need those books, they're all about detectives.’ So after momma was done talking to me about grown up things (jobs, selling, general things I wasn’t interested about) I ran upstairs. I didn’t care if I looked suspicious.
