Niall

Boxes were scattered everywhere in the new flat. It was a decent flat, three rooms, and one bathroom, and a decent kitchen. I was exhausted from packing up my things. I finished my room, and living room, and the kitchen. I need a rest, I thought. I looked at my watch and it was 11:55. I entered my room, and changed my clothes, and jumped on my comfy bed. I looked at the clock again it was 12:00. I heard the sound of the rain from outside. Another rainy day in London, I thought. I was drifting into sleep slowly, while listening to the sound of rain.

"The lights go out all around me

One last candle to keep out the night

And then the darkness surrounds me

I know I'm alive but I feel like I've died

And all that's left is to accept that it's over

My dreams ran like sand through the fists that I made

I try to keep warm but I just grow colder

I feel like I'm slipping away

After all this has passed, I still will remain

After I've cried my last, there'll be beauty from pain

Though it won't be today, someday I'll hope again

And there'll be beauty from pain

You will bring beauty from my pain."

I heard a melodious voice, singing those lyrics. The voice was still singing, it was a really calming voice. Who was singing, I asked myself. May be it is the radio or the television of one of the flats. I need to stop thinking and sleep, I have a busy day ahead of me tomorrow.

After 2 weeks

Two weeks had passed, and I still hear that melodic voice singing. I decided to ask one of our neighbors about it. I was going to my university now. I grabbed my bag quickly, and bolted out of the flat. I was taking the stairs, because there was no elevator. I saw one of our neighbors opening the door of her apartment. She smiled sweetly at me. She was young, possibly in her mid thirties.

"Hi, you must be the new renter." She said smiling at me. "Yes, My name is Niall." I smiled back at her. I can ask her about that voice I hear every night. "Excuse me, ma'am" I said. "My name is Lindsey, just call me Lindsey." She said kindly. I nodded, then started talking."I hear every day a voice, singing. Every day after midnight, when it rains. I was just curious about it, if you know who is it can you tell me." I asked her politely. Her face changed like she was afraid.

"This is really weird, I will tell you something, but don't tell anyone about it." she whispered. I nodded my head curiously. "From a year ago, there was a girl, who lived in the flat above yours. She was weird, she didn't speak to anyone. And we never saw her coming out of her flat. One day one of the neighbors was curious and knocked on her door, but she didn't answer, so he broke the door, he found blood everywhere and there was a suicide note. He called the police, they searched for her body, but it wasn't found. No one knew even her name, so it was difficult for the police to find her parents. Months had passed and yet her body wasn't found. And the case remained undiscovered. People came to live in her flat, but they found blood and other strange things, so no one lives in her flat. People are scared to rent her flat. But no one heard any voice from her flat, you must be having hallucinations. Because what you said is kind of funny and weird." she finished adding a laugh at the end.

"But I am sure I heard her voice." I said."It's really strange and funny, because I never heard anything." she said looking at her watch. "Oh, I am late, I should go." she said. She walked to the stairs and then waved at me. I waved back, this was weird. I decided to forget about it and go to my university.
