"I'm home looking at my door," I tell him, "there's a piece of paper on it but I didn't put it there."
"Okay, what does it say?"
.....................
Three weeks before.
I'm sitting in my room with the lights off looking at my glow in the dark stars. Everyone thinks there childish but they make me feel happy. They also stop IT. My phone starts ringing. I look at the caller ID.
Me: Hello?
Unknown caller: do you have the present
Me: Emily I swear if you don't stop that I WILL hurt you!!!!!
Emily: I'll never get you with that will I?
Me: Nope and you need to stop changing phones I can't keep up.
Emily: Okay I'll try.
Me: Try really hard. I got to go. Bye. I love you.
Emily: Bye. Love you more.I end the call. Emily is a friend in Ohio she comes down during the summer to visit all her old southern friends. I live in a small town near LaFollette, Tennessee. I love it here, but don't tell anyone or I'll lose my reputation. I'm what most would call a bad girl. You hear all these stories of bad boys. Well I'm him but female and I don't sleep with people. That's the only difference.
I'm pulled from my thoughts when I hear my momma yelling for me. (Yes I call her Momma got a problem with it take it up with my fists.) "Honey get your brothers up please."
As you can tell I am not an only child, the complete opposite actually. I'm a triplet. I have two brothers who stay up all night doing only God knows what and can't roll themselves out of bed in the mornings.
I walk into my "older" brother's room first, Dylan, he's only 6 minutes older than me, but still. I sit on his bed and shake him lightly. He sprints up. "Gosh, Beth I could of hurt you!"
"I could of broke your arm easily," I say rolling my eyes. "Momma said get up."
"Why? Its Saturday" he says confused.
"Does it look like I know," I say pointing randomly at my face. "Now get up and shower for once, you stink."
"No I don't, brat." He states strongly, but it doesn't phase me.
"GET DRESSED NOW" I yell. As my younger brother walks in on our "yelling match."
Connor is 4 minutes younger than me. My mom thought it would be cool to have her kids names A,B,C,D. Well they turned out A,D,B,C.
Connor starts laughing at me and I don't know why till I look at what I'm wearing. I'm in my pretty pink booty shorts, long hot pink socks that come above my knees, a dark pink tank top, and a pink beanie. I run straight to my room and change into my black skinny jeans, black tank top, no socks, and a black beanie to cover my big brown hair. Have you ever seen people with Afro. Yea I have hair like that. Kids make fun of me for it so I wear a hat everyday to school.
Momma yells, "Kids, breakfast."
Dylan runs to my room in "panic mode." "Did she say breakfast?" I nod slowly. As you can tell it's odd for my mother to make any kind of meal.
We all walk down stairs in what feels like slow motion. The last time I had ever felt like this was a year and a half ago.
I'm again pulled out of my thoughts but by Dylan and Connor grabbing my hands. We do this when were nervous. So we make to the bottom of the stairs and walk into the kitchen and mom knows we are nervous, we are her kids.
"Momma what's happening?," I ask scared for my answer.
"Well might as well tell y'all now," She states washing her hands. She is 5'3 with long curly brown hair. She wore her cooking pants as we called them and one of Daddy's old t-shirts. "This isn't easy for me to say," she started. "But I'm leaving for a while." I think all our eyes were the size of baseballs.
"WHAT!!!!!" Dylan screamed at the top of his lungs. "Why? Dad just left and now you want to leave!" I guessed I zoned out because I couldn't hear them anymore. Dad left a couple months ago. We woke up to Momma crying then a door slammed. We watched the screaming scene play out in front of our eyes from the top of the stairs. Dad didn't notice till he turned to shut the door. We haven't seen him since.
"Beth say something," Momma said.
"Where?"
"Oregon."
"Who is he?" I ask with some weird wet things on my cheeks. Dylan wiped them from one cheek and Connor did the same on the other. She looked surprised by my statement.
"Jake Hunter. Remember the night I went out with Rachel and Andy. We met at the restaurant. He's on a business trip here and he's leaving today."
Dylan punched the wall. Connor said, "And that makes you believe that you can just abandon us. Momma your not the only one trying to get use to dad not being here and Adrian."
I turn around smacking both of my brothers across the back of their heads. I finally walk up to Momma and hug her. "I'm happy for you." And with that I sprinted outside.
