Serenity groaned as she was pulled out of bed, literally. A boy of about 18 with dark brown hair, tan skin, and brown eyes had a hold of Serenity's leg and gave it a sharp yank that sent her sprawling onto the floor. She groaned as she sat up, "What happened to the regualr, 'Good morning'?" She mumbled a few choice words as she rubbed a small bump forming on the back of her head. After she got to her feet she looked up at the older boy who had a good 2 heads on her. "What do you want, Drake?" she snapped angrily as she moved to sit on her bed.
Drake smiled innocently at her, "Mom told me to wake you up, so I did." "And pulling me out of bed was the only answer?" she questioned with a failed eyebrow raise that left her with both eyebrows up. He chuckled quietly as he did a non-failed eyebrow, "No, but it was the funnest." With a roll of her eyes, Serenity stood up and walked over to her dresser, "Well I'm up now, so what do you want, douchebag?" He let out a quiet chuckle as he leaned against her wall, "It's 10 o'clock, you have 2 hours to get ready, eat breakfast, do your last minutes packing, make sure you have everything, and get to the bus stop by noon."
He counted out each thing he said on his fingers before turning to leave. "Wait, what did mom make for breakfast?" she asked quickly as he had a foot raised to step over the threshhold of her door. "Chocolate chip pancakes," he looked over his shoulder as he answered her before stepping out of her door, turning down the hall, and going to the kitchen. She pumped her fist in the air with a grin as she went over to her mirror.
When she looked in the mirror she saw that her ginger hair was a regular case of bedhead. Her pale complextion was dusted with freckles but otherwise blemish. The most abnormal thing about her were her naturally purple eyes that had a ring of gold around the pupil. "Clothes first then hair," she said with a smile and went over to her dresser.
She opened the top drawer and pulled out a long sleeve plaid shirt that was purple. After she pulled off the shirt she wore during the night she slipped on a black tank top, with lace around the top, and the plaid shirt over it. Next she took off her pajama shorts and opened the next drawer. After pulling out a pair of jean shorts that ended just above her knees she slipped them on and went over to her closet. She slipped on a pair of purple coverse and went back over to her mirror.
"Okay, now I can do my hair," she told her reflection as she grabbed her hair brush. "I also can't forget to pack this," she said as she looked at her brush. With a small laughed she ran the brush through her hair. It took quite awhile and hit a good handful of snags but she was able to get the brush entirely through her hair.
After she had shoved her brush into the least packed pocket of her small black drawstring bag beside her dresser, she threw the bag over her shoulder. Skipping downstairs, her bag bounced against her shoulder. "And I'm here!" she announced as she reached the kitchen. Both her parents and her brother looked at her. "Finally, now you only have half an hour to eat before we leave to bring you to the bus stop," an older women with long, light brown hair and blue eyes, her mother, Emilia, said.
With a roll of her eyes Serenity walked over to the counter and put her bag on it. "Yeah, yeah, I'll eat fast," she grabbed a pancaked off a plate and took a big bite out of it. A older man that looked like Drake, but with dark red hair, her dad, Daniel, let out a laugh, "Don't eat too fast our you'll be sick before you get to camp." He never looked up from the laptop that perched on his knees while he sat in a fluffy recliner in the living room. "I won't," she mumbled around the mouthful of pancake she had just shoved into her mouth.
Clapping her hands together, she grabbed another pankcake and walked over to the fridge. She pulled out the milk and put it on the table before grabbing a large glass cup from the cupboard. "What time is it?" she asked as she finished her second pancake and poured her milk. "11:18, better make sure you have everything," Drake told her as he walked into the kitchen, his eyes glued to the screen of his phone.
Serenity nodded and she chugged down her milk, "Already done. Are the rest of my bags in the car?" Her mom nodded, "Yes sweetie. We should get going. The bus stop is a good half hour away." With a smile, her dad got to her feet and grabbed the keys off the counter, "I'll be in the car waiting." After Serenity grabbed her bag she made sure nothing had fallen out of it before going out to the car.
Soon everyone had piled into the car and they were a good 25 minutes into the drive to the bus stop. Daniel drove with Emilia in the passengers seat and Drake and Serenity on opposite sides on the back seat. Most of the ride had been silent as everyone was still pretty tired from having to get up so early in yhr summer. As the bus stop came into view, Serenity craned her neck to see it better. A good half a dozen or more kids were already milling about. Some saying final good byes to family, some sitting on top of luggage, others searching wildely around for the bus.
The car came to a halt and Serenity quickly opened her door. Both her parents and her brother helped her pull out her luggage, a large duffle bag and two garbage bags with blankets and pillows. Within minutes she had said her good byes, gotten some good warnings, and was sitting on the ground and leaning against her duffle bag.
"First time at camp?" a voice asked. A tiny girl with long hair that was pink, have snake bites, and wore glasses with large, round rims, the typical 'nerd glasses'. "Easy to tell?" Serenity asked. The girl gave a shrug, "Just a guess, it's my first time too. I'm Georgie Starr by the way." After Serenity shook her hand she said, "I'm Serenity Rayden," then the two of them talked until the bus came. A large blue thing that resembled a school bus but with the words 'CAMP GLASS LAKE' in yellow on the side.
"Come on, we can sit together," Georgie grabbed her own backpack as a camp counsler put their luggage into a compartment on the bottom of the bus. Her and Georgie were the first of their bus stop group onto the bus. There was already a lot of kids on the bus and Serenity guessed there was only a couple more stops left, if any. The only empty seat left was way in the back.
The two girls quickly snatched it up and set their backpacks on the ground in front of their feet. Once everyone was on the bus and the luggage was away the bus gave a jerking start. "I can't wait for camp!" Georgie said happily. "Me neither," a new voice said from behind them. The two girls turned around to see a girl and a boy leaning over the back of their seat, smiling at them.
"I'm Luna White and this is Ember, my brother," the girl, a tall girl with long blonde hair, tan skin, and green eyes, said as she pointed to a tall boy that looked almost exactly like her but with shorter blonde hair. Serenity smiled at them, "I'm Serenity Rayden." "And I'm Georgia Starr," Georgie said happily.
Ember smiled, "Nice to meet you." He's pretty cute, Serenity thought to herself but shook away the thought. "And I'm Zach, Zach Pines, but you can call me whatever you want," a tall guy with dirty blonde hair, tan skin, and brown eyes, said as he winked and slid in next to Serenity. "Is that your attempt at flirting?" Serenity asked with a sharp laugh. Zach chuckled as he laid his arm along the back of the seat, "More like seducing."
She rolled her eyes, "Well whatever it is, it's a failure." He gave a hurt expression, "Ooo, that hit me, right here." He put his hand over his heart, his expression stayed sad but his eyes sparkled michiviously. She turned to the other three, "Okay then. How long 'till we get to camp?" "About 30 minutes," Luna said.
The group of them talked until the bus came to a halt. By the end of the ride all five of them, even Zach, were all good friends. They knew that this summer camp was going to be the best ever, as long as they all stayed friends.
