"I do not!" Georgie and Austin exclaimed at the same time. "This just proves you both do," Luna teased. Georgie glared at her while Austin looked at th eground and rubbed the back of his neck. "Okay, how about there's no more teasing until after dinner?" Serenity suggested. "I like that idea," Ember told her. "Fine," Luna mumbled.
"Oh, but I thought you like my teasing," Zach smirked as he walked over to her. "Swerve boy, I have half a mind to back hand you," Serenity warned him. "What about the other half?" he rose an eyebrow at her. She smirked, "The other half wants to kick you where the sun don't shine." He cringed, "Got it, got it. I'm backing away." He walked back over next to Ember and Austin.
They talked for a couple more mintues until a trumpet blast sounded from the front of the dinner hall. Everyone turned to look and saw the camp director standing on the steps. "Everyone can go inside and find a seat now!" she announed. There was a mad rush to get inside and luckily the group of 6 were able to get a table together.
As Serenity looked around the room she saw that the camp director was now standing on a small stage with a microphone in front of her. When she tapped on teh microphone loud thumps and feedback radiated around the room. A few campers, including the three girls at the table, slammed their hands over their ear. "Sorry about that," the director said with cheery laughter, "As some of you may know, I'm the director of this camp, you can call me Anna."
"Well that was painful," Luna muttered as the director started a drawling speech. It had to of lasted a good 20 minutes. It was filled with a bunch of introductions and warnings that Serenity paid no attention to. "Now, once a month everyone goes on an overnight. There are many places that there are to go and each cabin can enter to go to the place of their choice. At the front of the camp there are entry boxes. Above each box is the name, distance from camp, and a picture of the place. Under each section of information there should be two boxes. One labeled 'Female Cabins' and another labeled 'Male Cabins'. The weeks before each over night we have a bonfire and the winners for each place are chosen. A male and a female cabin are chosen for each site and those two lucky cabins get to go there. A counsler will not go with the cabins that have at least one person over 16."
Loud chatter began around the dining hall as the speech ended and kitchen workers brought platters of food out and set them in the middle of each table. "Ooo, I can't wait for the overnight!" Georgie exclaimed as she began to fill her own plate. "Me neither, I love the outdoors," Serenity said as she filled her plate. "Just another thing that makes up perfect for eat other," Zach said with a smirk from beside her. Serenity shot him a glare as she began to eat, "Keep up like that and I'll castrate you." She muttered it just loud enough for him to hear. She knew he heard it when he began to choke on the piece of garlic bread he was eating.
"Chew your food, man," Ember said with a laugh. Austin stayed silent but was clearly holding back laughter. Zach took a huge drink of water once her stopped choking but was silent after. "Do you guys have any idea of the places?" Luna asked, breaking the silence at their table from after Zach's hilarious choking fit. "I heard the best place is this island that's in the middle of Glass Lake. Most of the older cabins try for it," Austin said quietly. Everyone looked at him. "Oh yeah! I've heard of that place! I heard that there's this really scary myth about it," Georgie said with a small shudder, "They say it's haunted." "Isn't that the whole reason for going there?" Ember asked. "Yeah, I would think people would want to figure out the truth... Don't you?" Austin asked with a raised eyebrow at Georgie.
Georgie shrugged, "I guess, it could be fun." The way she said gave Serenity the forbodding feeling she was hiding something. "Let's just eat so we can get out of here before the bathroom rush," Zach muttered. The rest of the dinner was spent talking about the overnight and with Serenity feeling something was being hidden from her.
