Female reader !!!!!!!!!! LISTEN TO THE SONG ))

You walked up behind your husband.

He had just returned home from the war by the generals command.

You looked down at your hands that wrinkled your outer skirt, a habit you picked up after he left, knowing it was your fault. But you didn't feel very guilty.

You were pregnant with his child after all.

You found yourself smiling at his back as he sat in a bench in the garden.

Mark spoke up.

"How long have you known..?"

You smoothed the wrinkles from your skirt as you walked over and sat beside him, grabbing his hands gently.

"A month or so,"

"(Y/n) you should have told me..."

"I wrote to the general a month ago,"

"No..."

"I begged him to send you home,"

"You should have told me..!" He repeated

"I'm not sorry."

You smiled, remembering the letter you wrote, and finding out you were with child.

~

You picked up a quill as you sat down at your husbands desk carefully.

Smoothing out your skirts, you began writing a letter to Mark's Commanding officer.

'General McLaughlin,

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, but I have a small query for you. Could you find it in your heart to send my husband home from the war? I know how ludicrous and unappealing this sounds without reason, but believe me, the reason is very important. Recently I have been given word that I am pregnant with Mark's child. I would love nothing more than to have him home safe with the child and I. I fear that his stubbornness will get himself killed before he has a chance to meet his son. So please sir, I beg of you, send him home. I understand if this is too inconveniencing, but it would mean the absolute world to me if you would be able to send my love home.

Best, (first initial). Fisch'

You wrote as quickly as you could. You prayed the lord not take him from you, to have the general send him home, as you put the parchment into an envelope and addressed it to the general.

"Please stay alive..."

~

"I knew you'd fight until the war was won,"

"The war's not done."

"but you deserve a chance to meet your son."
You grabbed his hand and gently laid it on your slightly extent stomach.

"Look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now."

"Will you relish being a poor man's wife, unable to provide for your life..."

"I relish being your wife!" You smiled.

"Look at where you are, look at where you've started..." you began, reminding him that he came from nothing. He was an orphan, immigrant, coming from a place where nearly no one survived, not even living to see past 20.

"The fact that you're alive is a miracle... to stay alive, that would be enough."

Putting your hand over his which still resided on your bump, you continued your small speech.

"And if this child, shares a fraction of your smile, or a fragment of your mind, look out world! That would be enough... I don't pretend to know, the challenges you're facing, the world's you keep erasing and creating in your mind... but, I'm not afraid. I know who I married. So long as you come home at the end of the day.... that would be enough.

"We don't need a legacy, we don't need money. If I could grant you piece of mind... if you could let me inside your heart! Let me be a part of the narrative, in the story they will write some day, let this moment be the first chapter, where you decide to stay. And I could be enough! We could be enough... that would be enough."

You spoke confidently, your small speech moving him to tears. He gently rested his hand against your cheek and pressed his lips to yours.

"I don't deserve you (y/n)..." he mumbled. "But I'm overjoyed to be yours."

You smiled and wrapped your arms around him, relishing the moment, wishing you could live in it.

If he could stay by your side forever...

That would be enough.
