Hey guys! This is my first fanfic and I am super nervous. I hope it's okay! And I'm not totally sure how Wattpad works still. This is my first time uploading. Um, this is dedicated to ThePurpleRose431!

This is a boyxboy. Not interested, great. Then don't read it.

Chapter 1

~

"Just stop calling me!" Harry threw his phone atthe floor, fuming.

"Caroline again?" I asked. This was the fourth time today she called, asking Harry to take her to dinner so they can "fix what shouldn't be broken."

Harry put his hands on his face tiredly. "Yeah."

The two of us were silent for a moment and I desperately wanted tokknow that I accidentally blurted out: "Why won't you take her back?"

Harry looked away and I thought I saw my best mate's cheeks redden. "Erm," Harry responded, not giving an answer.

"Harry?" I asked after a minute, the suspense killing me. When Harry still didn't say anything, I became afraid that I had offended him in some way. "I don't mean to pry, Harry. You were just always happy after seeing her, and so was she. You talked about her all the time. You were sad when it ended. Why not take her back when she still wants you?"

Harry still wasn't looking at me, so I scooted a bit closer to him, trying to see his face. For a moment, I thought I saw a tear track on Harry's face. I moved closer to Harry and gripped his hand in both of mine. "Harry? What's wrong?"

Harry finally turned to me, swiped at the tear on his cheek and said in a trembling voice:
"Caroline's convinced she's in love with me."

I was so caught by surprise that I unconciously dropped Harry's hand and shifted back a bit, then saw hurt cross his features quickly. "Are you in love with her?"

Harry looked down, not meeting my eyes. It caused a panic in me. Is Harry in love with Caroline? "I'm not, Lou. I don't love her." He looked back up at me, his green eyes so sad that I wanted to hold him close and make it all better. "That's why we broke it off. She wanted me to move in with her, but I'm not ready for that. I don't think I'll ever be."

"Why not?" I asked, my heart fluttering with joy. I prayed Harry couldn't hear it.

Standing up, Harry rubbed the back of his neck. "I don't know, Louis. There's just something not quite right between her and I."

"But you still like her," I stated. I could see in Harry's eyes that he did miss Caroline, whether he wanted to admit it or not. Harry only shrugged. "Then why aren't you with her? You won't know you'll never love her until you try." I couldn't believe I was encouraging this.

"That's the thing, though, Louis. I have tried. I've been trying for a while."

I was glad Harry didn't love Caroline back. I always thought their age difference was a bit revolting, as was the idea of Harry in a relationship with her. And not with me. But to keep the band together and not screw up my friendship with Harry, I had to hide my feelings forever. I finally said. "Maybe you should try harder."

Harry suddenly glared at me, anger and betrayal revealed in his eyes. I bit my lip, preparing for Harry's wrath, but all that came was Harry softly saying, "Maybe you're right." As if on cue, Harry's phone rang and he picked it up and answered it without looking at the screen. "Caroline? Yeah. So, dinner then? Alright. See you in an hour." Harry hangs up his phone then looks at me. "Thanks, Lou."

I smiled a fake smile, hopped up and hugged Harry, inhaling his sweet scent. "Anytime, Haz."

Harry pulled away and didn't quite look me in the eye when he said, "See you later, Louis." He then turned around and walked down the hall to his bedroom.
