Chapter 14 - You're Messing With My Head

Most fanfic writers on Wattpad are like "Oh, I can't write or update because of exams!" But, I'm done with most of my final exams, and I've had tons of time to write. Thus, I am presenting to you a long, crazy chapter. It's gonna mess with your head ;) See what I did there? ANYWHO! I worked super hard on this chapter and had a bit of this chapter stuck in my head for months, and I've finally got it into the fanfic!

And I am dedicating this chapter to my bestie ShippingStylinson. She's the one that edited this chapter, so it can actually be understandable.

Chapter 14

An hour after Harry left, saying "Don't tell Caroline what we did last night, please", I leave my flat and get in my car to go to Ella's. I shudder as I walk to her front door. God, I hate this girl. And this house, now that I look at it. It's dark green with a yellow door and window frames with a white front porch and roof. Not very appealing, if you ask me.

I knock on the door and wait for Ella to open it. After a minute passes, I start tapping my foot. After another minute goes by, I cross my arms. Yet another minute goes by and I knock on the door again, louder this time. A few minutes later and still she hasn't come to the door, so I pound on the door over and over, shouting her name, purposely being obnoxious so that she'll come to the door. Yeah, I know I want to spend as little time with her as possible, but the sooner she comes to the door, the sooner we can get on with this date and get it over. Plus, the sooner she answers the door, the sooner I can get off this ugly porch. 

The door opens abruptly and I stumble a bit, but catch myself. My eyes meet Ella's ice blue ones and she looks down quickly, avoiding my eyes. What the hell? Is she finally beginning to feel guilty for what she's doing to me? With her eyes still trained on the floor, she opens the door wider and gestures for me to come in. Sending her a confused look that she doesn't acknowledge, I step into the entryway.

She walks by me quickly, head still down. Cautiously, I follow her into her sitting room and am immediately struck dumb by the sight before me. My mouth hangs open, my eyes widen, and I'm pretty sure my heart stops beating.  

"W-what's going on?" I ask, not stepping away from the doorway, as I am leaning against it for support. Of all the things I expected of today, this was not it.  

Ella sits in her white chair furthest from me, while on her left, on a white couch to match the chair are seated Zayn, Niall, and Liam. On Ella's other side, also on a white couch across from my band mates are Caroline and Harry. The group look very awkward and uncomfortable as if they've just been caught going into the wrong locker room.

Liam, ever the responsible one, clears his throat first and speaks in the fast way he does. "Well, the boys and I don't know your new girlfriend very well, and we thought we'd take a chance to get to know her. When I asked Harry if he would like to join us, he told me that Caroline had some things she wants to say to Ella, so they tagged along." Knowing Liam, this was more than a simple get together. He knows I'm being blackmailed, but he doesn't know how or why, so I assume he's here to find out without exposing to Ella the fact that I had told him. In order to cover that, he brought along the lads. Smart boy.  

"Okay," I say cautiously, stepping away from the doorway, striding across the room to stand behind Ella's chair, putting my hands on her shoulders to make us look more like a happy couple. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Harry quickly look at my hands with a glare and a frown before looking back up at me. What the hell? When I look at Liam, he's already looking at me. The way his eyes are staring into mine shows sympathy, but there's something that also says, "Find a way out of this. You don't deserve what she's doing to you." I swallow before I question, "Why do this behind my back?"
