Dietrick

"I'm not accepting no change" I pushed the baggy down into my pocket.

"It's all I got" He zipped his coat.

"Empty your pockets" My finger brushed against the gun that I had tucked away.

He pulled his pocket inside out, and three crumpled fives fell out.

I snatched them up, and he put his thirteen dollars worth of quarters, nickels, and dimes back.

Heavy ass change.

I'm not finna put no change down infront of boss.

Nigga, I'd get shot.

"I gotta eat with that. Please"

"Give them cashiers that money you was tryna give to me"

I turned and walked off, listening to see if he would try to make a move.

Justice keep calling me a bum, but I ain't buying no damn rocks like these bums.

"Reeze" I called his name, and caught up with him.

"There go Justice" He mumbled.

I stopped, and slapped hands with some guy who stopped me.

I shoved the money that he gave me deep down into my pocket, and he had his lil fix.

"This is light" He responded.

"Nigga, whatever. That shit is fat" I lied.

"Damn right. You got a problem with what my nigga sellin'?" Reeze asked, and pulled his damn gun halfway out.

"Nah, nah" The guy said and walked off.

Reeze drank from his 40, and we continued walking. "Justice fat ass"

"Fuck up. I got work later"

She walked over to us. "I thought you had work all day?"

"This work too. I got two jobs to your one"

"You'll get shot"

"Yeah, I know. Reeze drunk ass might shoot me" I walked past her. "Don't be all up on me when I'm workin'. Go home"

"Bye" She rolled her eyes.

"Always rolling your eyes, bitch damn" I smirked.

Justice hugged me. "Shut up. Be careful, Dietrick"

Evelyn came walking down the block, showing off for me.

"Mhm. I hear ya" I hugged her back, and kissed her forehead before pushing her towards her car.

"Damn" Reeze licked his lips.

"Touch her, and I'm shootin' your ass"

Evelyn walked up to me, and I threw my arm around her neck.

"Wassup?"

"Hey, Trick"

My phone vibrated in my pocket, and I knew it was my alarm for work.

"I fuckin' hate this city, man"

"How you gone say you hate the city just cause you hate your job?"

"Nah, I hate the city too. I don't want Queen growin' up with this bullshit"

"And you swore up and down that you won't gone take care of no baby that you had with some hoe"

"I had a change of heart. Shut the fuck up, bringing up irrelevant shit"

He laughed. "You was a deadbeat for a whole week"

I didn't care if Evelyn got seen chillin' with me, cause if she got shot, it would be her own damn fault.

"Babygirl, go sell this for one and a half times higher" I handed her a regular and watched her walk off.

"You got bitches sellin' drugs and shit, goddamn"

I shrugged. "I'm just that nigga"

Evelyn walked back over, took a lil cut for herself and handed me the rest.

"Thanks, Ev"

"Justice keeps looking at me at work" She brought up some random shit.

They were co-workers.

"My baby can stare if she wants to. You got a problem?"

"No" She huffed, and I crossed the street to get to work.

"I thought so. You aint no replacement for Justice. It's just sex"

"Okay" She rolled her eyes.

"You did your dirty work. Stop following me" I told her.

I slapped hands with Reeze, and we parted ways.

"But Dietrick-" Evelyn began.

"I think you getting too comfortable. Chill before you get cut off" I reached into my pocket for a cigarette.
