Chapter 13
(Jane POV)
Lisbon’s look was a little too shocked. I knew she was obviously going to be let out easy out of those charges, even easier than me!
So I didn’t think she would be so shocked to hear the news. I guess this means she’s even happier than expected…yes it does!
I bring Lisbon into a kiss, the kiss I've been waiting a little long for today.
She pulls away and smiles, “We did it! Oh my god…we did it!”
“I know Lisbon. We did it! Why are you so shocked?”
She shrugs. I can tell the heavy stressful weight has left her, she is free from pain. So am I. Even though I knew Lisbon couldn’t go to jail with me on the loose, I was still scared the jury could have go crazy letting me go. I feel so relieved it’s all over now.
“Guys?” Grace says from behind us.
Teresa and I look at Grace, Cho, and Rigsby; we then hug the unit members, thanking Grace especially.
“How about we go get something to eat?” Rigsby asks.
“As long as it’s not McDonalds!” Lisbon said making her eye-widening face. She is just too cute.
“I think this calls for something fancy,” Rigsby says.
We decide to go to a local favorite and are seated.
“I remember the cops coming into Cho’s house, while the three of us where having a depressing dinner (we were all sad about you guys leaving),” laughed Rigsby slightly with Grace and Cho. “They were all like, ‘Have you heard from Jane and Lisbon?’. We of course said no, because we didn’t. Bastards. But we forgive you guys!”
“Yeah sorry we couldn’t tell you much…” Lisbon awkwardly apologized.
I nodded.
“So first thing tomorrow, what you say we change our names back, Penelope?” I say nudging Lisbon a little trying not to think of how the team had been feeling.
She laughs a little, “Yes please! I feel so phony with this name!” Lisbon said.
“How did you even decide to be called Penelope?” Cho asked.
“Well…” she started but I interrupted.
“We named each other. I named her and she named me.” I say proudly yet I still hate our names.
“Well that’s pretty cool,” Rigsby says picking at some asparagus.
“Yeah, sure it was!” Teresa said sarcastically.
“Hey you named me Andrew so don’t complain about me naming you Penelope!” I defensively say.
The team laughs and we talk on other things.
After dinner Grace dropped us off at home and we said thank you again. When Grace’s black car sped off, I kiss Teresa. I’ve been wishing to have her closer to my body ever since the trail. I was so scared we would be separated, but to our luck we weren’t.
‘You don’t realize how much you need something until you (are about to) lose it.’ Is a pretty famous quote, right?
Although I knew I needed Teresa in my life, more than anything, it was just today I needed her with me all the time. I never wanted to let her go, not for one second. When we had trial rooms that were really separate from each other, I was scared.
“Wow!” she gasps for air laughing, “This is fun!”
I chuckle, “I missed you so much today. Even if we were only separate for a while.” I saw between desperate kisses.
She nods and lets me have her. We make it to the couch.
I don’t want to go to my bedroom. No way. If I am to live with Teresa, I can’t just betray Angela and Charlotte like this. Sleeping in the bed I had Angela with Teresa just seemed wrong, like if I was cheating. I know, I've moved on, but still, I can’t sleep there with Lisbon.
Teresa wanted to say something about it but she stopped herself. She allowed us to stay on the couch without questioning, but a confused and a second later understanding glance.
I think she forgets sometimes about my past. That's good for her, but not for me. It would be unfair for me to forget my past life, but I also want to a little.
I pull out the bed couch like we did last night, and after the loveliness of us compatibly combining, we sleep. Well she sleeps. I think of what I want.
I want to marry Teresa. Let me repeat that: I want to marry Teresa, not Penelope.
Tomorrow we will change our names back, and then the next day…oh I have that planned out. I will have the best proposal ever! I will confused her and not let her know I want to marry her until she reaches me. I’ll lead her on a ruse and ask her the most important question of life.
I have great plans for this. Marrying the love of my life will be easy. We could have kids; she can name them, because that would make her happy. Anything to make her happy.
Also, I think we should move somewhere else. I know saying that sounds like I’m abandoning Angela and Charlotte, but I won’t. I’m still going to own this house, no matter what.
I get on my elbows and lean over Teresa. I kiss her on the forehead and then lay back down. I then close my eyes and smile.
The End.
