I tapped my finger nails against the keyboard of my MacBook as I waited for my Twitter account to load. As soon as it opened I checked my followers - 2.5M, then flicked onto the discover tab. I scrolled up the page, looking for what was trending. The top trend was #skimpysera, followed by #whatwoulddaddysay and #notsodaddysgirl "Damn", I said under my breath, logging off twitter and going downstairs to check if my Dad had come back. He hadn't, but it would only be a few hours before he did, my mum with him. I sat down on one of the kitchen chairs, and put head in my hands, the curse words coming thick and fast, before grabbing a pen and opening my diary.
Dear Diary,
I should have known better, I'm used to paparazzi, after 17 years of them, being the youngest daughter of Harry Styles I have to be. but I was only going to the shop down the road. Okay I admit it, the t-shirt wasn't the best idea, One Erection wasn't the most original slogan and the leather hotpants were sure to attract attention. but seriously news travels fast, for gods sake I didn't even see the photographer.
I just wanted to make a statement, okay. I mean, I've never really had a choice, I've always been the child sat in the corner on the set of a photoshoot for hours when I'd rather be with my friends, the child shouted at, called names, judged by the media, I've always been that kid, the One Direction Kid who has to be perfect. I mean, I love my Dad and everything, he has always wanted the best for me, but he cant expect me to be the perfect squeaky-clean child that my mum wants. I'm not my sister Darcy.
My Dad was a rebel once, but he's seems to have forgotten that, he wasn't the always reliable father figure that he is now, when he was younger he did what he wanted, He lived the life he wanted to live, he did what made him feel alive. And that's what I want to do. I'm in a perfect box, made to fit the requirements that my parents and the media want me to have, and if I don't fit perfectly in that box it feels like the whole world goes crazy.
