All of their eyes were concentrating on me, making me feel somewhat self conscious as I stepped slightly backwards to hide behind my fathers large build. I was positioned in an unfamiliar pack, around a variety of wolves and their Alpha who I had not even the slightest clue about/of.Out of the 4 young men, three had mate bonds leading into the pack house, knots in the middle indicating they had met and were accepting the mate bonds by completing the mating. Unlike those 3, there was one man who had yet met his mate, as the red string that was connected to his heart with no knot, led off to right, with a yellow tip in tow, meaning his mate was too far away.
At an early age of 17, my anxiety was at its peak. I felt like I was being circled, almost prey-relatable. During a brief talk with the Alpha, dad pulled me gently away from those eyes who were peering at me, to explain that the business we had here was very important so that we could secure a spot in this pack with welcomed arms.
I nonchalantly agreed with a nod of my head. My answer seemed to please my father, as he then brought us back to the circle of werewolves and their Alpha. Their Alpha approached me with long strides, he then proceeded to grab my hand and laid a gentle kiss upon it. "I'm Alpha Damien. It's an honour to meet you, Ava." He said, his voice husky.
Damien's bond, a pulsing red string full of energy, which was left in plain sight of Ava's, tugged at his heart as it faded away in the opposite direction, off into the trees. This indicated that his mate was still healthy and alive. No knot within his bond meant the pair had not crossed paths yet, therefore their wolves have not yet met.
I licked my lips and faltered a smile. "Thank you, I'm glad I can help you." I glanced towards my dad for assurance and was granted a nod of appreciation. I brought my hand back to my side. Alpha Damien looked to be around his early 30's, with light stuble across his face and dark brown hair messily in the form of a Mohawk with the sides shaved. Slightly intimidating to say the least, although his attitude seemed very polite and fit for an Alpha.
Before we arrived here, my dad had informed little about what my task was. Months ago my dad and I were struggling to survive after our pack had been greatly attacked by another pack whom our Alpha was at war with. Many were injured and over 70 people died, including children/pups. Those that survived, including my dad and I, were offered a spot in the enemy pack as long as we agreed to have our ranks degraded. What dad and I did after that I vaguely remember but it was tough, that was until an offer came up. An alpha had heard of me and contacted dad, asking for him and his wife to be mates and in return we would be granted with a spot within his pack. Hence why we are here.
Ravendawn pack seemed to be very...courageous. My first impression of the pack remained solely on the couple of members I've stood before today, including their Alpha. They were all composed in ways where their shoulders and back were straightened, heads up and chests puffed out in a protective stance. The reason may have been because strangers were in the presence of their Alpha but who was I to judge, I understood any possible interpretations they thought we had, especially since we were once considered rogues/wolves without a pack.
Dads hand gently placed down on my shoulder as Alpha Damien asked us to follow him around into the Alpha wing of his pack house. As we followed in suit, Alpha Damien's men that had come along with him, were following behind us cautiously.
We were invited into the Alpha/Beta living room, which had been secluded just for our arrival. Taking a seat upon a leather sofa with my father by my side, Alpha Damien and his four men scattered around on the other two couches.
Bonds crossed the room confusing Ava as she struggled to fish out who's was who's. The red strings went from one wall to the other, crossing through the pack land, distinguishing who each pair of mates were and whether they were mated or not.
