The warm welcoming lights of nearby shops whizzed past Kirstin as she sped through the streets of the city. She expertly weaved her way on her motorcycle through the flustered citizens on the walkway. Angry bellows and rattled cries followed her, but there was no time to slow down and apologize. She had to keep moving. She turned a sharp corner into a dark alleyway. There was nothing there other than a few bins, and a brick wall blocking her path; a dead end.
Or so it seemed. She briefly took one gloved palm off the handlebar of her motorcycle to make sure everything was secure in her satchel. Smoothly, she took one foot off its resting place, and planted it on the seat of the motorcycle. She rose to crouch, and with the vehicle still moving, she leaped into the air. She jumped off with mere seconds to spare before the motorcycle crashed into the brick wall at full speed, shattering the once sturdy frame into pieces. Any second now, civilians would start to wander into the alley, curious about the noise. Before long, the police would start investigating, and that would mean definite trouble; she needed to make her escape. Quickly.
Kirstin called out into the shadows, 'I know you're here, so you might as well show yourselves.' In the corner of her eye, she saw two figures. The first was taller, and had a more muscular build, and while the shorter one was wearing loose clothing, she could tell that he was more svelte. 'My goodness, isn't it a bit too late for you two boys to be playing outside?' she asked 'It's almost past your bedtime.'
'Nice to see you too Christina.' The taller one joked.
'Veeery funny, Scott.' She responded, 'but my name's still Kirstin. It hasn't changed from when we last saw each other.'
The two shapes walked out into the light, and Kirstin could see their faces more clearly. The taller one had blonde hair and even blonder eyebrows. His eyebrows were so light-coloured, in fact, that they were almost non-existent. He had a finely chiselled chin, and eyes the same shade of blue as the sky. The shorter one, however, was the complete opposite of his counterpart. He had raven-black hair and a fringe down to his jawline. His eyes were a dark brown, and he had a prominent 'Roman' nose.
After a brief pause, the taller figure – apparently named Scott – raised the question, 'Did you get the thing?'
'It's in here.' Kirstin said as she pointed to her satchel. 'You've been quiet,' she gestured to the smaller one, while she opened her sandy coloured bag.
'I've got nothing to say.' He said plainly.
'Then make up words,' Scott suggested.
'There's already enough crap coming out of your mouth, I don't have to.'
While Scott laughed at his remark, Kirstie took out a small blue gem. 'Here it is, boys. The Star Sapphire; last one on earth.
'Formerly under the watchful eye of the Gregorian Museum, but now it belongs to us.'
'So you just took it?' Scott asked.
Kirstin Shrugged.
This is the Gregorian museum were talking about. They literally have the best security money can buy. Won't they notice it's gone?'
'Not until morning,'
'It's... Pretty,' Scott said, impressed.
'Yeah,' Kirstin agreed, 'but right now, we need to get going before anyone gets suspicious.'
'Like the crowd of people you almost ran over?' The smaller one inquired.
'Before anyone else gets suspicious.' She corrected herself.
'Alright,' Scott said, 'where do you plan on going?'
'Down there'
