It was Monday. Kylie had passed out around nine Sunday evening, still exhausted from the previous days' excitement. Although she felt refreshed she also felt nervous. Hannah and Liam were going to be in all their couple-y glory and Kylie hadn't mentally prepared. Be happy for them had become her new mantra.

"It's time to go!" Cyrus called in a frustrated voice. She tended to get irate if they weren't moving in an orderly and quick fashion. Kylie dashed down the hall grabbed her bag and jacket from the living room. She rushed into the kitchen and grabbed two granola bars. Not only was Cyrus irritable when she wasn't on time but when she was hungry it got worse. She heard the front door slam and quickly shoved the granola bars into her bag. She heard Cyrus honk and rushed to her front door. Luckily today they wouldn't have to worry about dropping off Jonas now that their mom had come home.

"Here." Kylie huffed as she opened the car door. Cyrus rolled her eyes. "Took you long enough." She pulled the gear into drive and took off to school. Kylie took a deep breath, repeating the mantra over in her head.

The hallways were swamped with people. Kylie was walking to her second period with Hannah. Although many people brushed passed her, even bumping into them, the girls didn't seem to mind. Hannah was cracking Kylie up. Hannah's imitation of their history teacher Mr. Kane's was golden. His monotone voice made half the class fall asleep within the first five minutes of his lecture.

"Class, "Hannah droned out, stifling giggles. "Why is my class asleep? Class. Why is-" Kylie couldn't help herself and let out a flurry of giggles, clutching onto her friends arm for support. They continued down the hall, swerving through the groups of people making their way towards art.

"Hey Brandon!" Kylie and Hannah's heads both snapped up. Not only was the smell of axe of the guy who pushed passed them overbearing but so was his voice. It was like a loud bellow that stopped majority of the crowd in their step. He plays soccer with Liam, Kylie thought. Hannah spoke voicing Kylie's thoughts to the T.

"That's the guy who plays soccer with Liam." He was stout with short blonde hair and a huge presence. Both girls were sure he was on the team with Liam but couldn't pinpoint his name.

The hallway surged forward again. The guy went to, who Kylie presumed, was Brandon. She then did a double take. His eyes were closed tightly and one hand was in his shaggy tawny brown hair. He was the boy from the carnival. Her eyes opened widely. and she quickly looked down and tugged the unknowing Hannah down the hall.

So jake was right? The school was big of course they probably hadn't crossed paths. There were like three hundred peo-

"Um earth to Kylie?"

"Oh! Hannah, sorry. I just felt like the bell was going to ring soon." Hannah's eyebrows furrowed.

"So you took us in the wrong direction?" Kylie looked up and saw they were in the science corridor.

"Um, sorry..." She said giving a quick smile to Hannah. Hannah giggled.

"It's okay, minor detour. Let's go before the bell rings and we really are late."

Kylie sighed in relief. She hasn't known why she panicked. He was just a boy who randomly tried to make conversation, she reasoned to herself.

Yeah. Just some random guy.

Lunch brought a whole new nervousness to Kylie. Liam had recently been making an appearance at their lunch table and cuddling up to Hannah. She was dreading this all their fourth period and as she walked to lunch and while she sat down at the usual table waiting for Hannah and their coterie of friends. Lily and Robbie came first, followed by Hannah, then Jayson. She sighed gratefully when Lily and Robbie occupied each seat aside her. They didn't know it but they had saved her a little less ache.
