Kylie pulled her short hair into a small ponytail. Wisps of chestnut brown escaped from the rubber band and hung from the back of her neck. She gave a small sigh and searched her bathroom for a bobby pin. She quickly pulled the strays into place and gave another small unsatisfied sigh. Her hair was having trouble cooperating today it seemed. She turned on her bathroom sink and let the water run over her hands. She shook them lightly before stroking her baby hairs that were poking out of her hairline.

Today was Saturday. The week had flown by so quickly. Kylie took pop quizzes, discussed art, did homework, made art, slept, and dreamt about art.

Art was in her mind constantly. She had the burst of creativity pour through her and every waking second she was not sketching or painting was a waste. She couldn't pin-point the catalyst of it. Maybe when she realized she could be happy for Hannah and Liam? When her mom came home a week earlier than planed? Or perhaps when she met and talked to Brandon? She wasn't really so sure of what caused it but, she was glad it happened.

She took a deep breath and moved from the counter and out the shared bathroom. Cyrus had cheer practice and Her mom took Jonas to the park. The house was silent and calming: the perfect breeding space for her creativity.

Everything was set into place when she opened her door. Relaxing music played in the background, her canvas placed with a homemade holder on her small off white desk. She sat down and took a glance to her left where she pulled one of her bedside tables next to her. Her paints later on them in rainbow order and her brushes were freshly cleaned.

She began to paint.

Her mind was solely focused on the canvas in front of her.

It was hours later till Kylie's mind landed back to earth. She had gone through three canvas and all of her acrylic red and white. The mirror that hung on her wall told her she had accidentally made a canvas of her face as well. She laughed lightly at the look of herself, and finally stood. She stretched her legs out, and let out an small groan.

She then realized she was still very much alone. She grabbed her phone, pressing it to life. 4:30, and a few texts.

The first ones were from her mother.

Mom: Me and Jonas are going to get some ice cream. Be back at five

Mom: have you eaten?

Cyrus had sent a text to the families group chat.

Cyrus: Cheer girls are going out to eat don't wait up

Mom: Okay. Kylie have you eaten? Still at the Dream Cream Parlor

Kylie smiled at her mother's persistence. She quickly sent a text back, assuring her mother she was soon to eat and that she had just been painting.

Her phone pinged with a notification. It shocked Kylie, and the phone fumbled towards the floor. She quickly bent down and grabbed it, the Instagram notification blocking Jonas's picture once again.

'Bran_donJS: hey what's up?'

Kylie tentatively smiled at the notification. She shoved her phone in her jean pocket and made towards the bathroom. She quickly cleaned up her face, wiping all traces of paint from her hands and face. She didn't get to see Brandon much at school but they often texted about their day. It was a new ritual that they had started. Kylie moved towards her bed and clambered into it while typing her reply.

'KYWilder: just finished painting, wbu? :)'

'Bran_donJS: oh cool! anything i can see? and not much just hanging with Pickett'

Kylie smiled at the thought of Pickett. He was so adorable and Kylie was incredulous that she hadn't met the pup yet. She also knew that smile was partly due to the fact that someone other than her mom was interested in her art. Cyrus thought it was boring but was supportive and well Jonas was just too young to care about anything other then his favorite blue characters. It was refreshing to have someone interested that didn't have to be.

'KYWilder: when do i get to meet pickett? :'( and no its still rough lol maybe another time'

'Bran_donJS: Idk his schedule looks pretty full...'

'KYWilder: omg no :'('

'Bran_donJS: of course jk haha we can plan a date where you and Pickett can finally meet'

Kylie could feel her whole face warm. Even her hands that grasped at the phone where warming and clamming up. She took a breath. He had used the four letter word. Date? What kind of date? Like the actual date? Or like date date...

Her mind was at a lost. Kylie burrowed her face in a pillow. What did she want? Perhaps that was the better question. Did she want this to be a date date? Did she start to like Brandon? She mulled over this before carefully replying.

'KYWilder: sure, when is a good date for you?'

Surely this reply would confirm what he meant. Surely, he only wanted a platonic friendship with Kylie and this date would be a friendship meeting and nothing more. She never had encountered this problem before. She had always had crushes that had never really liked her romantically. Plus they had only know each other a little over a week. There was no way Brandon liked her. She still didn't even know her own feelings for him, whether she liked him as a friend or wanted something more...she wasn't entirely sure.

"It has been only a week" She mumbled out loud. Her phone pinged again with the notification. She took a slow inhale of air and looked.

'Bran_donJS: tomorrow? Should we make a day out of it?'

Kylie squinted her eyes at the message. There was no clear answer of what kind of date he meant. She knew she shouldn't decide what he meant.

'KYWilder: sure! I'm free? Where you wanna meet?'

'Bran_donJS: Sadies at 11? Idk if that's to early but, we could go for lunch and then go to Jameson's park?'

Kylie's stomach filled with butterflies. She was beginning to get excited for tomorrow date or no date, she knew it would be a good time.

'KYWilder: sure! See you at 11!'

She smiled, now excited with the plans to meet up with Brandon and Pickett. Kylie already was planning her outfit in her head. She got up from her bed abandoning her cellphone on her bed to make a sandwich for her stomach that with the lack of butterflies realized it was hungry.

Her phone pinged once more,  unnoticed by Kylie who had already walked out of her room.

'Bran_donJS: then it's a date :)'

NOTES:

Ello it's been quite awhile since I've published a chapter NGL lol.

This was a really hard chapter for me to want to write Bc ya know I just want to get to the cute stuff lol. It's a bit shorter then the last but at least I'm reaching my goal.

I hoped you enjoyed it though! Feel free to point out any grammar errors. I suck at grammar.
