Chapter 3: I'll Be Home For You

(This chapter is based off of the song Solla Sollew, a song from the musical Seussical, it's a really cute song, and the first time I heard it I cried, and I'm not ashamed to say it. Anyways, onto the chapter)

There's a faraway land
So the stories all tell
Somewhere beyond the horizon
If we can find it
Then all will be well

Troubles there are few

Someday, we'll go to...

Mabel didn't get much sleep that night.

Or the night after that.

Or for the next month.

Everybody was devastated about Dipper, but not as much as Mabel. She couldn't sleep in their room, she often found herself crying into her brother's pillows. Stan was the most worried about her. He knew what it was like to lose a sibling and not know if they were dead or alive.

Seeing Mabel so upset, eventually made the Stan and Ford make up, and though that did help Mabel a bit, she still hurt whenever she thought of Dipper.

It was the day before her ride to California, when Stan had to call Mabel and Dipper's parents.

Anna cried when she heard the news that Dipper was "dead"

Mark, was furious and sad.

"Mark please listen, your son, Dipper, he's a hero, he went out fighting, he died his way." Stan tried to reason.

"No! I don't want to hear your excused Stanford. My son is dead! You should have looked after him!" he yelled between tears on the phone.

Mabel could hear the shouts of her dad from upstairs, and she heard when her father told Stan that she wasn't ever going to see Stan again. She cried herself to sleep that night. It was too much.

The next morning, Mabel was worse. No one thought that was possible.

On the way to the bus she made sure to get Wendy's Skype. Wendy promised to help the Stan twins figure out how to make one as well.

The ride to the bus was quiet. Too quiet.

The door opened from the Stanley Mobile and Mabel was in to rush to get out of the car. She eventually walked out. Ford helped Mabel with her bags.

Their final goodbye was the hardest part.

Wendy hugged Mabel tightly. But was unable to say anything.

Soon hugged Mabel also.

"It'll be alright dude, you'll get through this" he said trying to comfort Mabel. Mabel had begun to break her promise to herself, to not cry.

She went to her grunlkles, and saw sad smiles on their faces. She ran to the both of them and hugged them as tight as she could. They bet down and hugged her. Ford was the first to let go.

Stan had began to cry, breaking his promise. Like Mabel. They let go at the same time. He wiped her tears.

"It'll be alright kiddo. Don't worry about us." He said.

Mabel nodded.

"I'll miss you so much grunkle Sta-" she began to cry again and wasn't able to finish her sentence.

Wendy, Soos, Ford and Stan all hugged Mabel one last time.

Then she got on the bus.

She looked out the window longingly as she saw her family and her beloved Gravity Falls disappear.

==========Time Skip==========

The last week of summer break Mabel spent up in her room alone. She didn't eat much. Her parents were becoming worried. They called her doctor to check on her.

She was diagnosed with mild depression. (Mild because usually depression caused by grief isn't as bad as clinical depression)

She began to take pills a day before school started. She couldn't sleep. She didn't want to go back without her brother. It wasn't right. She was forced to go anyways.

At school people gave her sorry looks, her teachers didn't call on her, and her friends occasionally came up to her to offer her their condolences. But she remained quiet and looked away.

She didn't remeber anything else from school.

She walked in her room without saying hello to her parents and locked the door. She lied down on her bed and fell asleep almost immediately.

(In her dream)
Mabel was looking around a dark area, then suddenly white dots looking like stars appeared, and splashes of light pink, purple and blue. She turned around and saw...

"Dipper?"

She woke up in a cold sweat. She looked around her room. And saw, her brother floating in the middle of the room.

"Dipper!?"

(Woo! Horrible chapter I know. But it starts picking up soon I promise)
