"That should do it!" My mother announced as we were all huffing, quarter till five the clock said. We all collapsed on the couch in the small living room, and admired our work of food.
"I'm going to jump in the shower," I started walking towards my bedroom, opening the door and sighing. What were they going to think? Was Peter going to like it? Those thoughts drowned out of my head when the water started running. I played Tove Lo's Queen Of The Clouds, and I sang along with it; I wouldn't say my singing is bad, but it's not worth winning the Voice or anything. So, I sang my heart out and I put on a black dress with white dots with a little makeup. Since we weren't going out or anything, it still needed to be readjusted. Once I stepped out of my humid bathroom, my bedroom was cold, and I heard voices from the living room. I walked to see what was happening, and the Parkers and Mr. Stark had only gotten through the door.
"Smells good, Mrs. Stacy," Mr. Stark announced looking around, "where's the mister?"
"He's at work, I apologize that he couldn't make it," My mother said, closing the door gently behind her.
"Hi Mr. Tony!" my brother ran up to the man and gave his legs a tight squeeze, as if he hadn't seen Tony in a long time. His reply was something cheerful, but I didn't really hear what the guy had to say, because Peter walked up to me.
"You look... nice," He hesitated as I laughed.
"Thanks, Parker you look.. nice as well," The boy's face blushed as cherry red as you could get, and I laughed even harder. With my mouth open and shaking, I tried my hardest not to drool in front of my crush.
After the tour of our apartment, everyone sat down in staged seats. My mother and Ms. May sat across from one another, then Stark and Lucas, and Peter and I. Lucas was to my right and so was my mother. The clash of families... and Tony. We all shared our spill of the day, but mine was probably as bland came: bullies, but my topic about NYC heroes seemed to catch the attention of Tony and Peter once more. Soon enough, my words were left in the dust as Lucas went last; he talked about school, Tony, and some odd words the man had said that he didn't known the meaning of. We ate with a few more words spoken, but enjoyed our meals. The Parkers and Tony complimented the food, before sitting down in the living room. Lucas went to bed, but he found parting with Tony difficult, and Peter and I headed for my bedroom.
I sat down on the edge of my bed, and Peter was glancing around when his eye caught my souvenirs. "Wow, you went to all these places?" He ran his fingers on the shelf.
"Yeah, it kinda pays off when your dad is a doctor." I sighed and knitted my eyebrows together.
"What's wrong?" The first question anyone would ask, if you have a change in moods.
"Um, one question, every time I mention something about New York heroes, you look astonished or something. Have I said something wrong?" I cocked my head towards the boy; he placed a hand on the back of his neck.
"No, it's... nothing really." His lips turned into a frown.
"I mean it's obvious that Mr. Stark is Iron Man, but..." I remembered when the billionaire had announced his placement to the rest of the world. "have you ever asked him what it's like? I mean..." I turned to the boy, my hair flipping over my shoulder. "to be a hero... it seems like the world is weighing on you, but I guess he's used to it."
"Yeah, I mean I don't really want to bother Mr. Stark; he does have a lot on his mind." Peter thought about his life, and how Tony would never forgive himself if something happened to the boy.
I scanned the boy, from the little curl in his hair to his outfit. How did someone not like the kid? He seemed so sweet, funny, and probably so much more. "You know," a small smile traced my lips. "I wish there were more female superheroes in the world." Peter's head seemed to have jerked up; a grin plastering his face as well.
"All about girl power now, huh? Well, maybe you could be the next hero of New York." We chuckled softly. It was getting rather late, but Peter and I exchanged a few more topics of conversation before my mother entered the room to tell Peter that he was going to be leaving.
"See you tomorrow," I waved, grins on both our faces.
"See you." He waved as the door shut behind the trio.
