here's a little reunion for you guys, enjoy!!

I stared at the reflection in the tall mirror leaned against the wall for support. My face had small scars on them from the cuts that I had gotten while we were down here, and there were faded bruises on my arms from the fight with the Grounders. I slightly turned my body to the side and gently ran the pads of my fingers over the red whelps on my lower back, chills rising on my skin at the cold contact. It certainly wasn't the worst injury that I had suffered, but it meant the most. It meant that the Grounders weren't our only enemies.

Snapping out of my trance, I pulled down my shirt to cover my exposed skin and slung on my jacket. I had woken up before dawn to get a gun and some ammo from the armory, along with a few spare rations from the kitchen. Thankfully almost all of the guards were patrolling the perimeter of the camp, so I had gotten by undetected.

I shouldered my bag and stole one last glance at my reflection before leaving my room. Sunlight peeked in through the windows in the main hall as I swiftly made my way towards the back of the Ark and to the engineering room. Wick was waiting on me, agreeing to temporarily shutting off the electric fence so I could slip through without being electrocuted.

"And why didn't you ask Wrench Monkey to do this?" He asked as I entered the room, spinning around on the stool from the workbench.

"I don't want Raven involved in this," I admitted while riffling through the pile of junk to keep myself busy. "And if she asks you where I am, just say that I'm with my mom or something."

"This isn't my first time helping someone break the law. I'm just too smart to get caught, unlike you and the rest of your little friends," he grinned and handed me a walkie-talkie. "You'll need this to communicate with the Ark in case things go bad, which they probably will."

"Thanks for the concern." I took the radio from him and stashed it in my bag. "Anything else?"

"You'll have about five minutes to sneak out before the guard's notice that the wire isn't live," he explained. "So I suggest you get out quickly before you get shocked."

I nodded. "Sounds like a plan. Thanks for this, Wick. You may not be as big as an asshole as I thought you were."

"I'm actually offended by that," he scoffed, but smiled anyway. "And if you want to repay me in any type of way, I accept cash and kisses."

"You're out of luck, sorry," I apologized, trying to hide the grimace on my face. Kissing Wick would probably be the equivalent of getting captured by the Grounders, two things that I definitely did not want to happen. "Okay, I'm going. It'll take me about two minutes to get to the back fence so wait a minute or so to turn it off."

"Yes, ma'am," he responded as I left the room. I kept my head down as I walked, not wanting to draw any unwanted attention from the guards that paced around the Ark. Once I had made it through the back doors, I snuck past the guard station and stood in front of the fence. Testing to make sure that it wasn't live, I picked up a rock and threw it into the wires. It sailed harmlessly through to the other side.

"Thank you, Wick," I smiled widely and stepped forward, holding up the top wire so I could squeeze through. As soon as my foot landed on the other side, there were shouts in the distance. My body froze, knowing that I had been caught, but no one came. They were shouting about something else.

I knew that this was the perfect time to go, when everyone was distracted, but for some reason I couldn't bring myself to climb through. I had a feeling that something was happening.
