chapter 5 ~ it's clear now

As the sushi hits the ground, Grayson pulls away from the kiss instantly. 

"Oh! Brooklyn!" He says, staring at me with an apologetic look on his face, although there isn't really a reason he should have to feel bad about this. Theres nothing wrong with him kissing Jordyn, he's single and so is she.

"So are you guys a thing now?" I say, not breaking eye contact with Grayson. There is no way I can stand to look at Jordyn right now.

"Actually, don't answer that yet." I say to Grayson. I turn to look at Jordyn, who is just sitting there silently, twirling her auburn curls around her finger.

"Jordyn do you mind leaving. We are about to have lunch and there's not enough for you." 

Her jaw drops, and she rolls her eyes in disgust. "I don't know what the fuck is wrong with you, but lately you've been acting like a bitch for literally no fucking reason." She stands up instantly and picks her purse up, which is sitting on the couch next to her. She storms out of the house without bothering to say goodbye to neither Grayson nor I. She slams the door behind her, making Grayson jump a little. 

Without saying a single word, I crouch down and pick the sushi up from the floor. Luckily, nothing fell out of the containers, they just got shaken around a little. 

"Sushi still good for us to eat?" Grayson asks, pulling his phone out of his pocket.

"Yes. It's fine." I say, bringing the sushi over to the table and setting them out ready for us three to have lunch.

"Ethan, come and eat!" I yell, trying to get his attention.

"Coming!" 

Ethan jogs into the room wearing a plain black T shirt. 

"Wow you put a shirt on!" I say, letting out a fake laugh. 

Ethan chuckles. "Yep!"

What the fuck is wrong with me. Why am I acting like this? When I saw Grayson and Jordyn, I couldn't take it.

Wait.

Could I possibly - nah, theres no way. I'm in love with Ethan.

I think.

"So, Gray what have you been doing all morning?" Ethan asks, taking a bite of his sushi.

Grayson looks up and we make eye contact. "Nothing, just literally been on my phone all day." He replies, not breaking the eye contact for a second. 

I stare at him with a look that reads: 'why are you lying?' but I don't think he gets the message. He keeps eating his sushi quietly.

"I think I'm going to go to the skate park after lunch by myself. Is that okay?" Ethan asks.

"It's fine." Grayson mumbles.

"Are you okay bro?" Ethan asks, concerned about his brother.

"Yeah I'm ok." Grayson finishes his sushi and gets up to throw the container in the bin. He doesn't return to the table, instead he goes straight into his room and slams the door shut.

"What's going on with him?" I ask, pretending that I never saw Grayson and Jordyn kissing before.

"Not sure. Anyways, I think I might head to the skate park now."

I nod, and Ethan gives me a light kiss on the forehead before grabbing his gear and heading out the door.

Now it's just me ... and Grayson. Alone.

I have to go check if he's ok, and get some answers. I want to know why the fuck he was kissing Jordyn. I knock softly on Grayson's door.

"Yeah?"

"It's me." I open the door and see Grayson lying on his bed, doing something on his phone. He sits up and puts his phone away, and gestures for me to sit down on his bed next to him, so I take a seat.

"What the fuck was going on before?" I ask him. "Tell me the truth Grayson."

He lets out a big sigh. "She came over. I told her that you had gone out to get lunch for us, but she told me she wasn't here to see you. At first I was confused, but then she said 'Grayson. I'm here to ask you if you wanted to go out for dinner sometime?'" He pauses for a second, then keeps going.

"Obviously I don't think about her in that way, because I ... like someone else. But I know that I will never have a chance with the girl that I actually like, because it's complicated."

My heart sinks. Grayson likes a girl.

"But I thought maybe if I give Jordyn a chance, I would forget about the girl and be less upset about the fact that I can't be with her." Grayson looks down and runs his fingers through his hair.

"Come here." I say, bringing him into a hug.

I can hear him sobbing softly over my shoulder, so I pull out of the hug and stare into his eyes. A tear rolls down his cheek, and I wipe it away with my thumb. He gives me a sad smile.

"Who's this girl?" I ask him.

"What?"

"Who's this girl that you like?" I ask again.

Grayson lets out a small laugh and shakes his head. "There's no way I can tell you without ..." 

He stops talking and laughs again.

"Without what?" I laugh, following along, although I have no idea what he's laughing about.

"...without complicating things." He finally responds. "I literally can't be with her, there's no way. So what's the point in telling you?"

I give him a gentle smile. "Because sometimes it's not good to keep things to yourself."

He looks up at me, and stares directly into my eyes. He is so beautiful.

"I love you." He whispers, not looking away for a second. My eyes open wide, and I'm speechless. I try to talk, but no words seem to come out.

"I love you too." I reply without even thinking. I cup my hands and put them over my mouth in awe.

This is why I've been feeling different lately. Everything's clear now. I've been in love with Grayson this whole time.

He laughs softly. "I know."

"Grayson, this is seriously fucked up, I'm in a relationship with your brother."

"And?"

"Grayson ... he's my hero .. I can't do that to him."

"Yeah, but every hero becomes boring eventually."

I look down, and tears start streaming down my face. What do I do? What do I fucking do in this situation? 

Grayson lifts my chin up with his finger and leans in towards me. As his lips finally crash against mine, I smile into the kiss as the blade slides into Ethan's back.

and that's chapter 5!! I can sense some drama in the next couple of chapters ...
