Chapter 8

*Cece*

It’s very tiring learning how to be a spy. The last time we had P&E Deuce wanted payback and I did a really bad thing and let my guard down (only because Temi had been kicked in the gut really hard by Amy). Now I have a massive purple green bruise on side (at least I got extra credit because I still fought on and gave him a huge bruise as well). In natural toxins class Mrs McGough had nearly blown up the whole class room, good thing Alex is a brain-box so he stopped her and told her the right measurements. (Mrs needs some new glasses and fast!)

The halls were crowded as students were rushing from classes to lunch. I followed the steam of students in but when I entered the hall, Alex was leaning against the door. He grabbed my arm and pulled me so close I could smell his spearmint breath. I got a little woozy with the smell. So I quickly got my head together and pulled away from him. A wide cocky grin appeared on his face.

“Come on its school tradition, you now have to choose a pet since you been here a week, but I can’t go with you someone else has to” he told me “Temi!” he called out.

A girl with mocha coloured skin and had plaits in her hair came out from one of the tables. “Hey Alex what you up to?” she said.

“Hey Temi this is Cece can you take her to the girls pet area” Alex asked.

“It’s ok I can do that umm Alex are we still on for the revision today?”  She asked.

“Umm sorry I don’t think I’ll make it ask Diana” he said politely.

Temi had taken me to the very top of the pet area where the animals you get to choose stayed.

“Ok so here we are you can choose any animal you want but if you want a stronger connection between you and the animal then you should let it choose you” Temi told and sounded very mystical.

“What pet do you have?” I said trying to stall.

“Panther!” she shrieked “she’s called Yzma”

“Cool!” I tried to keep the conversation going.

“Now stop trying to stall and walk around and choose your pet” she said.

“Ok I’m… going to choose…” I was about to say ‘border collie’ but I felt something was watching me.

I turned around slowly to come face-to-face with a snow leopard. Its blue eyes staring at me (it felt as if it was staring into my soul) I shivered because I felt a sudden jolt of cold then followed by a jolt a heat rush through me. Somehow I knew it had chosen me.

“Hey Cece you alright you’ve gone quite” Temi called out “Cece! Cece” she turned the corner and saw the snow leopard staring at me and smiled “this is so cool it’s chosen you!” she shrieked taking mw out of the trance the leopard had me in.

“Hmm what did you say?” I asked

“What are you going to name it” she said sounding very excited.

“Err… I think Talula would suit her” I said “she looks like a Talula”

“That’s great! Now you can take her outside for a walk to seal your bond then you have you take her either to Dr Crip or Dr Goebbels to fit her with a thought translator chip or collar” she told me then leaned in close to whisper “so you can hear it’s thoughts”

“That sounds cool” I said “come on Talula lets go for a walk” I said to her as I headed for the door and she followed me.
