World Year 3081
The cybernetic heads to power the Envirotron System had been easy to create though he did it with reluctance and by force. As he attached the last electrode to the head of the former President of the United States and dropped it into the orb, tears rolled down his face. How could he be doing this? This project was wrong; he spent a lifetime creating advances in medical care. A life dedicated to helping people, not destroying them.
Creating the Envirotron System with the heads of the fallen world leaders made him sick to his stomach. Maybe his strong will and focus prevented total assimilation; he retained remorse.
As he connected an electrode to the fallen U.S. President, he paused. Memories of the man he once was flooded his mind.
He remembered refusing the Caste when they ordered him to create the cybernetic heads out of the fallen world leaders.
He remembered waiting until he was alone with the Mage, attacking him and escaping from the Caste tower.
The memory of Helen came back to him, forcing a smile. That memory faded into hatred. She had turned him in after hiding him from the Caste for six months.
He still felt the torture they had subjected him to after they caught him; the pain as they twisted him into the beast he was now, a cyborg... a monstrosity. He threw his screwdriver to the ground.
In anger and disgust, he ripped the electrodes out of the heads. Electricity surged up his body as a scream of pain and fear escaped his lips. He fell to the floor, convulsing, gazing at the ceiling above him. A globe of light flashed before his eyes, drifting up towards the ceiling. The energy transformed into a twisting warp of time and space. Pictures of his life cycled through the energy, he smiled, mesmerized by the spell. Pictures of his life cycled through the energy, he smiled, mesmerized by the spell. His eyes closed in slow motion as his mind wandered to the events that led him to this hell. He fell into a peaceful slumber.
The engineering team thought they were secure in their lab during the final battle for world domination. It was in the depths of Cheyenne Mountain at the establishment the U.S. Military once called NORAD. NORAD was once the most secure place in the world, often used as a safe house for presidents of bygone eras. The U.S. government moved their Biomedical Engineering team into the heart of the mountain hoping to keep their new human advancement technologies and medical care improvements a secret from the Caste. The Caste outlawed Science in their new World Order; it was false, magic was the only truth.
They were betrayed. The Caste discovered the illegal research they were conducting in the heart of Cheyenne Mountain. When ordered to allow the Caste Mages into the Mountain to inspect the laboratory and results for approval, the U.S. President and Prime Ministers of Canada and the United Kingdom refused. In anger, the Caste launched a siege against the former Super Powers in retaliation.
