"George! Drake's here!" Sam called out and Natalie hugged me, one last time and I grab my purse from my bed. I inhaled a huge amount of air and I followed Natalie downstairs.
"Where is Maxwell?" I heard Natalie asked Sam while I carefully step downstairs, courtesy of my ultra high heels.
Sam laughs. "No, I'm just kidding. He's not yet here. I was-" she stopped in mid sentence when she glanced at me. "Whoa... you going somewhere? You look... hot." Hot? I blushed at her remark.
Natalie scoffs. "Yeah I know. Thanks to me," she hugs herself once more.
It's not Drake? I glanced at my watch and it was already past nine. He should be here any minute, I thought.
"It's me. I was just checking if anybody is home because I have a lot-whoa," My mother calls while she was walking out from the kitchen then stopped on her tracks. She saw me and I can tell she was also surprised that I look-like this.
"Allie, you look wonderful! Where are you going? Is there an event at your school?' Mom asks while she held me at arms length. She is the only one on Earth that can call me by my second name because for some reason, I feel uneasy when someone calls me that. And by means of retrospect, she was the one who gave me the name Allison and my dad provided Georgina. I like that one better.
"I, uh... I'm going on a date." I whispered.
She looks at me quizzically then frowns. "Date? With who?"
And as if it is on cue, the doorbell rang. Sam jumped on her feet then went straight to the door. When she opened it, a dashing Drake was in the threshold, looking neat and handsome. He was in a black tux, with a matching black tie. When he saw me, he looks nervous as well.
"With him." I smiled pointing at him, and my mom turned around. Drake gave her a small smile.
"Drake? How? I thought he was-"
"Mom, it's a long story. I'll tell you sometime." I smiled, reassuring her.
"Well, I hope you are doing the right thing." She whispers. I know that she's just worried about me because of the "thing" that I went through.
"Besides, Drake is not a bad catch. He's hot and he has a -" I stopped her before she says some "weird" words.
"Mom! I don't need this now. We better go," I mumble while I walk towards Drake and he gives out his hand. I held it and he looked at me, his eyes glitter.
"You look amazing, George." Drakes says and I blushed.
"Shall we go now?" I nod and he prompts me to go out first. When we were about to leave, he mouthed some words to Natalie and she gave him a bad finger sign. Maybe he was just saying thanks for her persuading skills and for her in a way of saying 'you're welcome'. I can't help but smile.
When we got out of the house, My mouth was agape because I was surprised by sight I was seeing. A black limo was parked in front of our porch and a tall, gray-haired, middle-aged guy who is dressed in a suit was standing beside it. I recognized him right away. "Good evening, Miss Reed," he greets me politely. My mouth was still unable to speak until the power of speech came back. "Good evening, Stan." I replied hazily. I raised my eyebrows turned my head to look up at Drake who was already smirking down at me.
"What's with that look?" he asks, trying not to look amused by my expression.
"What is this?! I thought we were just going out on a simple dinner or something!" I say waving my hand on the limo, almost shrieking. He grins at me and brushes his fingers against my arms.
