My name is Aurora Fury but no one else really knows that, I am 19 years old and I have been on my own for almost two years. "Wooohooo it's just me, myself, and I...solo ride on till I die." Since the day I left my family I became a true vampire hunter. Originally the Fury family was a family of six but then it got reduced to 5 in a fatal accident involving the passing of my beloved mother. She did so much for us. Which is the reason I left, I felt like I hadn't done enough to support the family. If I rid more vampires from this earth it'll at least make it a little safer for my family. All that's left currently (last I checked) of my family is my Dad, Luna (my twin sister), Archer my eldest brother, and Rose my 16 year old sister. I know I only mentioned 4 and I said their were 5 of us. My youngest sibling Elizabeth 10 years old was given to a family who had allot of money to keep her protected. Our mother was the one who wanted to do this for Elizabeth and doing so she probably saved all of our lives. None of us would have made it out of that place alive if Lizzy was there.
Each day that passed more people from the village surrounding us were going missing. Mother and father didn't know what to do. They peaked out the window from our tree house but still couldn't get a good enough view. They wanted to help the others but they didn't want to leave us all alone to defend ourselves. We argued for what seemed like hours, mother and father and Archer and I were so close to a solution. The mother put her finger to her lips without saying a word. We knew she heard something. I peaked out the corner of the window to try to see if I can find Luna. No one was in sight. Then I heard the sound of a tree being knocked over. We were in danger. Mother yanked open the sunroof to our tree house as quietly as possible. There was a branch leading from our tree and onto the next. She motioned for me and Archer to get on going.
Archy and I scrambled along the thin tree fighting to stay a balance and not make too much noise at the same time. The demons were here. We had to escape before they found us. We reached the next tree and looked back to see our father scrambling nervously down the tree. He almost made it and his foot slipped. His arms tightened to a white grip around the tree to hold his weight. We heard it make a creek noise. Archy got as close to the branch as possible and extended his arm for father to take a hold of. Dad pulled himself up using Archy's weight. We were waiting for mother when we watched the sunroof abruptly shut.
Archy had a look of fear in his eyes. He stared at the sunroof for what felt like 5 lifetimes. Then we heard the feminine scream of our mother pierce the night. My hand flew to Archy's hand and gripped it tight. Not wanting to admit I just heard our mother die. She was so strong. She was even a slave to a high priestess at one point and managed to escape after 4 1/2 years of torture. That is where she met my father was on the escape he was one of the people trying to stop her. He had been a brainwashed guardian. Compelled by the vampire to hold his position and stop all escapee's. My father snapped the vampire's compulsion which is a very rare skill for a human to perform. He grabbed my mother's hand and they flew together faster than the sound of light out of the ginormous suburban mansion.
19 years later here I am, I am the offspring of my parent's perusal for life. I looked back at my father who was crouched in the tree, silent tears streaming down his face even though you knew he wanted to cry bloody murder and go after these villains. Not one of us moved after that, we didn't want to get ourselves killed and put our mother's death in vein. We waited for the sunrise before we moved from our positions. We all went to the tree house to see the lifeless corpse which had once been our mother.
I couldn't bear myself to looked at my mother's ragged body, she was torn to shreds by the beasts in the night. Her flawless neck (a sign of her retaliation to her master) now had too small holes and dried blood covered her white luminescent skin. I turned my back and said "I'm going to find Luna." Leaving the tree house. I searched and searched for what felt like a millennium. I couldn't stop thinking about mother. What was I going to tell Luna. Luna was the closest to mother out of all of us. Luna wasn't even there to say goodbye. Where did Luna sneak off to in this moment of chaos anyway.
I couldn't stop wondering why and how this had happened to us. We lived in a small 5 x 7 tree house for our whole lives just to be rampaged on one terrible night almost 2 decades later. Luna's disappearance wasn't making it any easier. What if she got caught and betrayed us. What if they are going to return at dusk to continue looking for us. I had to find Luna and get back to what use to be our little safe haven. All of a sudden by foot was grabbed from beneath me and my captor struggled to pull me under. I let out a blood curdling shriek to have a giggling blue haired freak looking me in the face.
"LUNA! Where the fuck have you been" I yelled cursing at her letting the venom drip in my voice. She looked into my eyes and at that moment it felt like she had looked into my soul. "What happened?" She said her eyes taking over a grave worrisome look. I stood silently and marched forward toward our safe haven. Luna followed behind me eagerly trying to talk to me. "Is everything alright?" "I heard noises last night so I hide" "Were you guys okay?" I didn't answer not one question. Which was quite unlike me but with death so fresh in the air I didn't know how to react. How to begin to cope with this feeling that they were laughing in our faces "Safe haven, haha they really thought they had tricked us."
50 feet before the tree house, Luna abruptly grabbed my shoulder and turned me around to face her. "Your abnormally silent." She said glancing into my eyes. She was trying to read me. She was very skilled at reading people. I just starred at her realizing how weak I was. I couldn't even open my mouth to utter a word. I couldn't look her in the eyes and tell her mother was killed by a vampire. Luna's dream was that all of us could die from a natural death not to the hands of those scums. Finally she turned around after realizing I wasn't going to answer her and began to climb the indents in the tree leading to our home.
I was standing outside as I heard the sounds of my twin weeping over and over again. I knew she was leaning over and grasping mother's body for dear life. This was going to crush my little sister. I sat there starring into the fogginess of the forest. Looking the same as it does every day. All of us were damaged last night but the world is still rotating. Life is essentially moving on without my mother.
The next day our whole family was split into the debate. Father and Luna on one side and me and Archy on the other. My father and Luna wanted to stay at our safe little haven, me and Archy wanted to get the hell away from their as fast as we could. The arguments went on with voices getting raised. "Maybe we should be a little more quiet we don't have mother's excellent hearing anymore." said Luna. No one said another word. The night ended and everyone went to sleep except me. I was up when the sun was coming up. I finally had light to see.
I grabbed my mother's bag and began to pack my small collection of crap into it. I glanced at the food supply in the corner and decided not to take any of that. There would be villages and food on the way where I was going. Speaking of where am I going? If I had told my mother my plan she truly would have laughed in my face. Same to Lizzy, Lizzy would have said "you big dummy, you can't become a warrior and take on the vampires by yourself....you need us!!!!"
I had to take one for the team.
