**Aurora's POV**
I left my family so I wouldn't endanger them but somehow traveling with strangers makes me feel worse. Makes me feel like I've betrayed them like I left them to go travel with these two bozo's. At least I still am taking vampires off the street to make it safer for them. That's all that matters. We were finally traveling down the road again with our new mysterious friend Kierran. Something was really different about him, his eyes were two different colors one gray and one blue and he seemed completely normal. Something about his story doesn't add up though.
I kept rolling his name off my tongue. Kierran. He was pretty good looking too and beforehand in life I had never really met a guy besides my brother Archy and then there's Xavier but something tells me Xavier isn't into the whole let be together type thing. Kierran though gets me seriously fiesty. Like I want to rage quit and beat his ass. What am I going to do with myself.
"We should probably crash here for the day and hopefully one of us will wake up before nightfall we'll be safe for now though." I said sternly. Xavier said "Can't we go just a little bit further for today tough?" Kierran laughed and said "I feel ya Aurora I'm pooped." I giggled but then controlled myself I am not here to fall in love. I'm here to do the opposite. I am on this journey to kill as many bloodsucking demons as I can.
Xavier sighed and we all marched towards the wooded area with many fallen trees but there was enough cover to hold us shelter if just for a little bit. I immediately made my way to a tree and scrambled up it and watched the others do the same to trees near by me. I said "Sweet dreams guys." I was thrown into dreamland so fast I hadn't realized how exhausted I was. My first dream was less of a dream and more a nightmare.
Archy was running through the forest carrying Luna on his back and it seemed like he was running for his life. I could sense his predators were near and closing in on him. I tried to shot at him "Speed up you dummy!" but he couldn't hear me over the sounds of the leaves blowing in the chaotic wind. I watched as these mongrels blew by me and I pulled my sword to no avail it went right through them. If this is what its like and I'm not there I defiantly need to get back. I really hope this is just a nightmare.
Archy was running so fast I yelled at the top of my lungs "Look out!" For a second there I thought he heard me but he went to continue running and tripped on a jagged tree vein and fell to his knees then the predators were on top of him tearing into Archy and my twin making them their next meal. I cried and screamed bloody murder. I woke up cold and shaking. There was a pair of arms wrapped loosely around my torso. I went to go panic and beat my attacker.
Kierran whispered "It's just me, try not to wake Xavier he seems more tired than we are....are you okay?" I nodded my head slightly "just a bad dream that's all." He looked at me and said "I know I'm probably not the person you want to be talking to right now but just trust me we're gonna be okay." I nodded my head and said "Yeah I know with both our swords skills put together and Xavier's sly throwing stars skills were gonna be an unstoppable vampire killing team."
Kierran seemed to like the idea of that allot. He smiled instead of smirking wow. "Why are your eyes different colors." Kierran shrugs "Birth defect, i also have a sixth toe." I hit him decently in a playful manner. "So whats your story?" Kierran says glancing at me while playing with my fiery red hair. I brush him off and say "My story is like any other story trying to stay alive in a world over run by vampires." Kierran hits me lightly "No like your personal story not the summed up version."
"My story goes along the lines of I lived in a 5 x 7 tree house for my whole life...it was a safe haven in the eyes of my sister, my brother, and my parents until one horrid night two years ago when my mother heard something, she rushed us out onto the next tree and then she was attacked in our home." He looked at me with the eyes of a thousand condolences. "We were entirely helpless so I decided to leave and take vampires off the street to try in my own way to keep them safe."
"Hush little warrior close your eyes, I'm going to sing you to bed tonight, so when your little burning eyes of fire close sweetly, I'm gonna go to my tree and watch over you sleeping." he sang softly adding more and more as he went on and eventually I did fall back asleep. This time it wasn't a nightmare. I was dreaming about the team we are and the moment that we just had and how he's opening up. Maybe he isn't so mysterious after all.
When I woke up he was still awake crouched in his tree stalking every movement from the leaves blowing and rustling in the bushes to the birds flying overhead. I said "Hey aren't you tired, you were the one who was pooped, get some rest I'll take this shift." I watched as he nodded his head and leaned back. His arms stretched crossed behind his head. I wondered what he could be possibly be thinking right now. His own father hates him and basically just sent the Royal Guard to have him killed.
I stayed awake watching it seemed like he was having a hard time sleeping. He kept rolling around on the thick branch tossing and turning. "You gonna be okay?" I asked from my tree he grunted "Yeah just not used to this whole on the run lifestyle." I nodded understandingly. I remembered my first night alone I cried in a tree somewhere for two whole days no sleep blessed my eyes for like the first week and then it became easier.
I am Aurora the wild and the fury traveling with a ex-slave named Xavier and a blacksmith bastard name Kierran what else can this journey have in store for us. Only the future will tell. Just hope we make it out okay in the end as a team. I heard a twig snap in the distance I looked down to see a small shadow creeping towards us. I whispered "Kierran."
Either he finally fell asleep or he is just ignoring me at this point who really knows. I was about to jump down when the small shadow turned out to be a little cat creeping through the woods. I stared at the cat wanting to take it with me but knowing I couldn't. A cat would only slow us down and be in the way. I climbed down my tree and pulled some edible berries out of my goodie bag. I didn't have much supplies left but the cat could use it more than me.
The cat began to purr rather loudly as I stroked his head with one hand and fed hims the berries with my other. I smiled at this rather loving little creature I wonder who's cat this was and where he came from. He looked pretty well fed unless he's hunting. I glanced around and as if on cue a man was standing a few yards away from me smiling at me and the cat. He puts his hands up to show that he wasn't meaning me harm.
He calls for the cat "Aphrodite." Immediately the cat ditches me and runs to her master. "You have a very beautiful and sweet cat sir." I said bowing my head respectfully. He was human I could tell. Kierran jumped down from his tree suddenly. "Who are you?" He says immediately to the man. The man puts up his hands "I mean you no harm the cat just wander out of my house down the road and into these woods." Kierran nodded staring at the man skeptically. I trusted the guy I mean he did know the cats name.
Xavier chirped up out of nowhere "He said house, hey buddy do you have food!?!" The man half smiled at us "How many are you up there?" I spoke first this time "It's just the three of us sir and we are on a quest do you have any food you can spare?" The man said "Fair enough for anyone who feeds my cat to receive some food. You have a very kind heart young one."
