Chapter 15 | Emma

Emma walked around her brand new apartment to grab a glass of water from the kitchen, looking down at the jewelry at her wrist. She managed to finish her study and landed a job as a doctor, giving her enough money to buy her own apartment whilst still being able to support her mother and sister. A few knocks on the door caused her to almost drop her glass, but she thankfully regained herself and placed it on the counter. She walked over to the door and opened it to see someone she didn't recognize, until she got a better look at his face. "Cassian?!" "Hey Emma" He smiled at her, making her laugh softly. "I barely recognized you with the well kept hair and the beard" She chuckled, letting her head rest against the doorframe. "I ah- I was released from therapy a few days ago, and I had to bring up some courage to knock on this door" He told her, making her nod. "You better" She softly laughed, making them look at each other in silence for a while. "I-I still love you-" Cassian spoke but Emma grabbed onto his blouse to press a soft kiss on his lips, making him close his eyes before wrapping his arms around her small body. She pulled away ever so slightly and looked up in his brown eyes, making a deep breath leave his lips. "I think that I love you too" She softly whispered, making him laugh as he pressed his hand against his forehead. "This was the last thing I expected to happen when I knocked on this door" He chuckled before looking down at her again, "Come inside, I think we have plenty of catching up to do" She spoke with a smile before grabbing his hand to pull him inside.

~1 year later~
Emma shifted on her feet as she stood outside the prison, the door finally opening to reveal Jack walking towards her. "God it's so good to see you" He spoke before hugging her as tight as he could, Emma's arm wrapping around his neck. "Shall we go to the park to talk for a while?" He asked, snow landing in his dark grey hair. "Sounds good" She answered with a smile, taking his out reached hand before following him to her car.

Jack moved to the edge of the bridge to let his elbows rest on it, Emma doing the same as her eyes scanned over the ice skating children. Jack's eyes moved down to his hands and a gentle smile formed on his face when he looked at the shining ring on her finger, "What's this?" He playfully asked her. "I got engaged... with Cassian.." She answered, making him laugh again. "You have a lot of explaining to do with that one. But I'm very happy for you.. you deserve this after all the shit you went through" He spoke, moving his hand up to the back of her head. "I'm sorry Jack" She said as she looked up at him, "Please don't be, we both knew what we had wouldn't last forever even if I had gone to jail" He said as they moved to face each other. "You'll always keep a special place in my heart" He softly spoke before leaning down to kiss her softly, before turning around and walking away.
