Breathing heavily, feeling the sweat run down my face and my throat burning, I continued to run, not daring to stop and fight back. I had dropped my pistol awhile back while I was roaming the deep parts of the woods. My genius ass went out by myself, not bringing an extra weapon with me, so my only defense was to run.

I suddenly stopped in my tracks, spotting a walker ahead of me. I frantically stepped back, tripping on my own feet and falling. I began to kick my feet, seeing the creature approaching me as I tried to get away.

Was this really the end of me? Fighting up until now and this is how it ends? As soon as I lost all hope in everything I heard a gunshot, causing me to jump a bit and shut my eyes.

Hearing a heavy drop next to me I opened my eyes, quickly noticing the fully dead walker. Speechless, I stayed still, only hearing footsteps approaching me. I didn't dare to look up.

"Are you okay? Can you stand?"

Slowly looking up I saw him. I could clearly see all his features from the bright moon light. He was pale, having a white bandage covering his right eye, his brown hair resting down to his shoulders while accompanied by what seemed to be a sheriffs' hat. He looked kind of, soft and kind.. His blue shining orbs stared me down, awaiting my answer about my safety.

My words couldn't find their way out of my mouth, I bet I looked stupid with my jaw open and staring at "royalty".

"Uhm.. Do you need a hand?" He asked. Before I could speak he grabbed my hand and pulled me up, quickly taking me behind the tree.

I didn't ask what was wrong, already knowing that the reason we were hiding was because of the other walkers.

Hearing what was passing by I stood still, feeling his hand tighten around mine. The leaves rustled and crunched beneath the deads feet, hearing the disturbing growls and snarls from them. I couldn't help but grasp his hand. Seeing him jump a little, not expecting me to hold his hand back, he shook it off.

Minutes passed before silence grew within the woods once again. Without speaking he began walking, of course looking around to see if it was really safe. Still holding my hand he continued to walk.

Feeling my face burn up I pulled my hand out of his grasp, looking down at my feet, not wanting to make eye contact.

He turned to look at me, "What's wrong?"

"Who are you??" I harshly whispered.

"Should you really be talking to me with that kind of attitude after I just saved your life?" He answered, rolling his eyes a bit.

This guy did just save my life, so maybe I should give him a little credit, but still keep my guard up.

"Hah, you got a point there. Sorry, what's your name?" I asked, trying to sound polite.

"I'm still not sure if it's safe to have a full conversation out here. Look, I'll take you back to my community for tonight. You shouldn't be out here by yourself unarmed."

Not wanting to seem annoying I nodded. "C'mon," he said, starting to walk. I began walking as well, walking behind him and keeping quiet.
