It's been awhile since I met a kid my age before this all happened, at least, I think he's my age. I've been living with my dad in a run down grocery store a few miles back. I never knew my mom because she ran out on us a few months after I was born. I have..well..had an older brother, but I don't really like thinking about what happened...

We soon reached the community. I looked up, seeing as it was surrounded by tall metal walls along with fences, surely nothing could get into this place.

"Hey, we're gonna have to be real quiet, I don't want anyone knowing we're out here, especially my dad." I nodded.

Looking around he motioned me to follow him. I wondered why we couldn't just go through the gate, but soon noticing that there were snipers keeping guard up in the towers.

We stopped on the other side of the wall. "Okay. We're gonna climb up from here. Can you do it?" "Yeah, I can climb," I answered. Of course I can climb, I've only been on the run for a few years ya know.

Going first he climbed up, holding himself up with the wood planks that were there. He soon made it over, looking down and waiting for me. I took a deep breath and began to climb. Making my way up I held on tight, just wanting to get over already. Just as soon as I was about to reach the top, I slipped.

"Shit-"

Feeling a strong hold on my wrist I was pulled up. "Geez. You need to be careful. Are you okay- Your leg's bleeding!"

Confused and still shocked I looked down, seeing a small gash on my leg, the blood running down.

"Hold still," he said as he ripped his sleeve off his flannel. Tying it around my wound I winced a bit. I can't believe my clumsy ass cut my leg, especially in front of this guy.

I tried standing up, wobbling a bit. Grabbing hold of my shoulder he looked at me. "We're gonna climb down the ladder. Carefully. Then I'll help you walk back to my place."

I nodded, too embarrassed to speak. After climbing down successfully he grabbed hold of my waist, letting me wrap my arm around the back of his neck to hold myself up. We walked not too far, but remained quiet and still hidden.

We eventually made our way to the house, sneaking in and not waking anyone up. He led me to his room. It was a rather big room for just a teenager, nothing really in here, besides from a few things and of course his bed.

"You can sit on the bed while I go get the first aid kit," he suddenly said, leaving without another word. I walked over to the bed and sat down, finding out that it was really soft, so I couldn't help but lay down. Damn, did this feel nice.

What seemed like forever he finally came back, closing the door behind him. My eyes were closed and I paid no attention to anything. My head suddenly bounced up as he sat down, causing me to sit up.

I sat up, looking at his back.

Turning around he looked back at me. "Let me see your leg."
