Dear future girlfriend
When I meet you I won't know it
When I meet you it may feel
Like sunshine in the winter,
So warm and bright in a place
That is not
Dear future girlfriend,
I'll be afraid to open up
I'll be afraid to tell you
How I notice the way your hair curls
When wet
Or how your lips pull into a smile
When you sing,
But know that I'll think these things
Dear future girlfriend
There will be notes in your locker
That I leave for you
That will make you laugh,
There will be poems for you
Much like this one
But I'll be able to include your name
Dear future girlfriend
I'll walk you to class
And buy you candy that's as sweet as you
But I promise I won't be as cliche
And dear future girlfriend,
One last thing, please rush through
The hallway
So I may bump into you,
Introduce myself,
And feel sunlight in January.

Goodbye, Pastel
PoetryI wonder is you can feel it too- The discrete pockets of sunlight Slipping through on dreary days; It warms my skin and fuels my smile. I'll keep the garden, After all. {Sequel to Fake Flowers}
