I'm Fine

All these thoughts and all these signs.
Yet all of the neglect was completely benign.

How did I miss it?
Blinded by pride.
"Just go to be safe"
I heard numerous times.
Yet over and over I convinced her
"I'm fine."

I never knew why I was so stubborn and balky.
But it came so unnoticed you almost can't fault me.
Tenacious at heart, optimistic at mind.
I still don't believe its cancer, "I'm fine."

All signs point to yes but how do you know?
I don't-sorry, won't believe 'til its diagnosed.
It's not written in stone, it's in pencil, at most.
"I'm fine."

Though if it's to be true could I propose a toast,
to my wife,  children, and family, whom I do love the most.
For you I would fight until it's my time, and if I should win...I told you,
"I'm fine."
