One solo, one duet, one trio. I'm said to be featuring in at least one dance but which dance was unannounced. They're all based or inspired by horror things, likely because we're midway through October. The group dance was just a themeless Lyrical piece called "The Ocean". We rehearsed a minute of it and made eleven mistakes, it was really hard. Everyone else thought so too which made me feel more comfortable with my limitations.
Sarah Hunt came in as a guest; she was put with Mackenzie and Jojo for the trio. Which means that options cancelled thankfully, trios are easy to mess up. The three were rehearsing for a cheesy jazz number based on the book series "Goosebumps", it consisted of them just dancing to a remix of the theme for the show. Abby said two of them were going to be wearing bad Nineties garb while the other was going to be dressed as the puppet character who terrorized the children from the books.
Nia was given the solo. It's a character piece about the movie "Alien", I wouldn't know just by watching the choreography. It's Open style and very mysterious, I was jealous. The music and movements were captivating. I think she's supposed to be Ripply, but I never watched those movies.
Abby comes over to me to inform me on my dance. Knowing the previous ones, I am left with the duet. I ask her who my partner was going to be. The stars must have aligned, it was Maddie.
Abby pauses a bit before speaking. "You will be doing a duet inspired by the movie, 'Single White Female'."
I sucked an imaginary lemon to stop myself from smirking.
"Isn't that a lesbian movie?"
Abby smirked too, looked to the left, and shrugged. "Kind of."
Maddie exchanges a suggestive glare with me. I was a little embarrassed but excited more so. Her glare intensifies gradually as we are given detail about the story behind the film. The dance we will preform differs in story but stays true in theme.
"You two are best friends and roommates," our teacher whispers, "but she falls in love with you."
Maddie gets pointed at, I want to be amused but it hits too close to home in a certain way.
"When she confesses, you get creeped out," Abby said turning to me, "reject her, walk away, but then she becomes crazy and tries to kidnap you. It ends with you fighting her and winning."
Why do I have to be the stalkee, I wonder? Maddie's probably really good at playing creepy characters with the help of that wig. As we rehearsed, I anticipated an assault akin to how she did wearing it.
