Chapter 1
"I can't believe you did that to me, B!"
"He looked like a nice guy..." I could just imagine the sheepish look she would give me.
"A nice guy doesn't tell me I look like his brother!"
"Wait... He really said that? I told you; you should've worn a dress or at least a skirt. Just drop your tomboy-attitude."
"Oh my god, That isn't the point. The point is don't ever, ever send me on a blind date again!" I practically yelled, some people gave me weird looks as I said that. I was skating my way through Central Park as I argued with Bianca through the phone. Most people gave me looks as if I was insane, thinking that I was arguing with myself. A man gave me that look until I pointed at my earbuds and he got the memo.
"Come on, Hayden. Why not? I mean the first guy was alright, right?"
"The guy was high. He thought I was a freaking unicorn and called me Hay-Hay." I could hear Bianca muffle her laughter when I said that.
"What about Josh? He looked hot."
"Well, he may have been good looking but he stunk." I stated matter-of-factly, picking up my speed while I was skating. "Just don't send me on a blind date again. These dates always turn out to be a disaster."
"Come on, Hayden!" I hear Bianca whine on the other end. "I'm just trying to help you find a guy. I mean- come on, without me you'll never find a guy."
I stopped skating at an abrupt halt as she said that. Did I hear her correctly? I rolled my eyes at her comment and let out a sigh as I picked up my skateboard from the ground.
"Bianca,I don't need a guy! I'll meet him when the time is right. I still need to save money for college and a guy would only be a distracti-"
The impact of a person crashing into me made me fall on the ground and unable to finish my sentence. My skateboard flew out off my hands in the process and my hat was blown off my head.
"Look out where you're going, asshole!" I seethed through my teeth.
"I could say the same thing to you too." The guy said glaring at me, making me mimic his facial expression.
"I thought God gave eyes to everyone to look where they're going, He obviously didn't give any to you" I hissed, well I kind of mumbled it under my breath as I got up. I didn't expect him to hear that, but by the look he gave me he clearly did. The guy looked at me for a second longer than necessary and then grinned at me. "You look cute when you're all fussed up."
"Oh shut up!" I said, rolling my eyes. I knew I had a disgusted look plastered on my face and I couldn't help it. I'm just that easy to read. I grabbed my skateboard and my hat from the ground and drove away from this bipolar guy. He soon caught up with me and said with a smirk: "I thought a girl with your attitude could handle a compliment."
I came to a stop quickly when he said that. "Excuse me? You think I have an attitude? If you didn't crash into me, I would've been nicer to you. So my 'attitude' is all thanks to you." Actually that was a lie. My attitude wasn't his fault, it was a long day and after that chat I had with Bianca, I got annoyed. Like seriously, as if I am the problem to all these disaster dates.
"You done?" He said as he smirked at me once again. His arms were folded over his chest as he watched me. The guy wasn't ugly, he was in fact quite handsome but that wouldn't change my attitude towards him. This man had dark brown hair that was styled to the left and I noticed a dimple when he had looked at me in amusement when I told him to shut up earlier. The blue shirt he wore made his blue eyes pop out which - to my surprise- I found quite dazzling.
"So what's your name?" he took a step closer to me and gave me a smile. I noticed his pearly white teeth. How can someone's teeth be that white? He bleaches them for sure! Without my permission my heart started to pick up its beat because of the close proximity between us. I took a step back quickly and it didn't go unnoticed. The guy smirked at me.
"It's none of your business." I glared at him. "Don't be so stubborn. Just tell me." I sighed. "Hayden, now good?" He only stared at me.
Is he serious? Oh my god, I'm just wasting my time with this guy. "I should go now. Bye!" I turned around and drove away with the thought to never see this guy again.
"Wait !" I heard him yell behind me. I ignored him and decided to just get away from him as fast as possible.I was having the weirdest experiences with guys today. Boys are weird. I checked my phone and saw that I had 2 missed calls of Bianca and decided to call her back. As I expected she immediately answered my call after the second ring. "Hey, what happened ?" she said, her voice was filled with worry.
"Chill out B. It was just a stupid guy who crashed into me."
I could hear her squeal on the other end of the line. "Ooh, was he cute? Do you know him? Did you guys have a conversation? Do you like him? What does he look li-'
I rolled my eyes at her lame questions. "BIANCA SHUT UP!" I yelled aggravated. "Alright? I don't care about boys. He just crashed into me and that's it." She didn't say anything. She was so silent, you could've heard a pin drop. I regretted flipping out on her, but she could be so... Bianca.
"Let's change the subject, shall we? I'm tired of talking about boys." I tried as I finally arrived home and grabbed my skateboard in my hand.
"Okay, what are you doing tomorrow?" She asked after being quiet for a while. "I need to work tomorrow, what about you?" I opened the front door and closed it behind me. "I have a date, but whatever. You don't want to talk about boys anymore."
As she told me this I ran upstairs. This girl always gets a date, like every week. It's just crazy. I don't get how she can handle it. The thought of boys alone gives me a headache, let alone dating them every week.
"Ouh shut up, just tell me who the guy is..." Curiosity killing me as I waited for her answer.
"Finally you asked!" She exclaimed. "It's Alex. The hottest guy in my history class. Oh my God! I can't wait!" I chuckled at her reaction. She's like this with every guy she meets. "You're weird, you know...and crazy. Sometimes I ask myself how I'm still not sick of you."
"Because you love me, silly. And of course I'm your best friend, so you have to deal with it."
"You're sticking your tongue out, aren't you?" I asked with a chuckle, knowing that I'm right. The silence on the other line proved me right making me laugh out loud. "How childish are you?" I could hear her laugh with me when I said that.
As I glanced at the clock on my nightstand I realized it was getting late, we said our goodbye's and I changed into my pj's. After that I layed on my bed looking at the ceiling, waiting for sleep to consume me. Before the darkness took over me, I thought about that guy who crashed into me. I felt drained. So much happened today; the blind date, my irritation towards Bianca on the phone and crashing into the guy at the park. I never thought flipping out on a bipolar asshole would cause this much energy when I was irritated. I never met someone as weird as him. He's something else for sure...
