Chapter 3

Embarrassed.

That's how I felt when I realized Derek told his dad about me. Derek probably told him all about our rendez-vous. I called him 'asshole'. God, my mouth really has to come with a break someday. I'll make a fool of myself one day if I keep my mouth running like this.

I assumed that his dad was a wealthy man, well... you have to be wealthy to be eating in Solo Mio. Derek's dad looks like the kind of man who has authority and cares about his family. He also looks like the kind of man who has a lot of connections. Damn, he can go all FBI on me without me knowing it. He could discover things about me that I don't even know about myself. The man probably already knows my full name, age and a possible doppelganger by now. I saw him typing away on his phone earlier, it could've been about me.

Okay stop it, Hayden! Don't act paranoid! He's probably just doing things work-related.

I tried to avoid the table at all costs, that's why I passed their table to Bianca to serve. With one glance at the table, through the kitchen's window, she turned to me and raised a questioning eyebrow at me. "You're sure you don't want to serve Mr. Hottie over there." I nodded in response trying to push her out of the kitchen. "You're stupid, you know that? You sure you're not lesbian or something? 'Cause girl, let me tell you something...there ain't no woman in her right mind to give up a piece of piccantezza like him."

I rolled my eyes at her. "I don't know what that means." I mused giving her a little push on the shoulder, motioning for her to go. "But I do know that they're waiting for someone that can take their order."

"You don't have to tell me twice." With that she strutted out of the kitchen's door, giving a little more sway to her hips as she skated away. I still wonder how she manages to sway her hips while skating away, but that's Bianca... She could pull everything off. I watched Bianca as she made her way to Derek's table, she was taller than me and her emerald green eyes complimented her heart-shaped face. Bianca had short chocolate brown hair that reached her shoulder. She was far from innocent, but her looks would tell you otherwise.

Bianca was my best friend since sophomore year and she was the one who hooked me up with this job at Solo Mio, her uncle Tony owned this restaurant. In the past years I know her, I've met a lot of her family-members. I already lost count when I met her 6th uncle on her mother's side. Let me tell you; Italian families are huge.

During the whole night I felt Derek's eyes on me. He winked at me every time I caught him looking. Bianca would come up to me occasionally telling me how 'hot' he was. She had called me stupid multiple times for giving her my table to serve. She still didn't know that he was the guy from Central Park who I had bumped into. I'd tell her later, though. I kept wondering why Derek wanted to meet me anyway, I was just a stranger to him.

"A stranger with attitude" the small voice in my head chanted teasingly.

When Derek and his family walked out of the restaurant, I still had half an hour to go. "So, tell me?" Bianca mused cheekily as she sat on the kitchen's counter. Bianca, Kevin, Linda, Tony and I were the only ones left in the restaurant. Linda was at the reception with Tony discussing some things about the accountancy. Kevin and Bianca were in the kitchen with me, cleaning up. Well, Kevin and I were cleaning up. Bianca just sat on the countertop throwing questions at me and eating an apple.

"Tell you what?" I queried making Bianca sigh dramatically.

"Tell me about Mr. googly-eyes at table 6, Hayden." She giggled when she saw my glare.

"Wait, are you talking about Derek Ayress?" Kevin queried while doing the dishes, staring at me and Bianca waiting for an answer.

"I don't know his last name, but I know his name is Derek. How do you know it's him anyway?"
