Eleanor Piqué was once again annoyed with her brother. He'd never been supportive of her wanting to work at the football club, but now she was hoping that barcelona was finally going to offer her a job. After all, she'd had a trial with them all summer. She didn't see why they wouldnt, she was deluded, she knew that she wouldn't be guaranteed the job. She was only 19, straight out of uni, but despite this, she felt like she had been the only one there due to a passion for the club and the actual job rather than the huge paychecks. Even so, football had been progressing, younger people coming in all the time with new views, and even big clubs like barca would have to keep up.

But back to why she was annoyed at her brother, he'd just called to tell her that they wanted her at La Masia in an hour. It took 30 mins to drive there from her house and she was still slobbing on the couch. She cursed his name multiple times while hurriedly putting on her makeup and slinging on her clothes - trousers and a shirt today, knowing she wouldn't need her sports gear. She tied her auburn hair up in her normal braid before leaping into her audi. Eleanor sighed in relief as she saw she had gotten there with five minutes to spare before heading in to the office, seeing Luis Enrique sitting there in front of her.

She sat after being prompted to do so, stomach dropping as the coach opened his mouth, saying;
"Miss Piqué, you know that we have valued your help over the past couple of months and respect your abilities, however I regret to inform you that the club has come to a decision that we cannot hire you."
The man gave her a fake smile and she couldn't help giving him a sour look. She had always felt that he didn't like her.
"We feel that we cannot be seen to be showing favoritism due to family ties, and wouldn't want these ties to get in the way of the job at hand."
At this she had had it, she'd have been okay with it if they'd have said it was because she was too young or inexperienced but the favoritism aspect? Complete bullshit.
"And this has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I'm female, huh?" She seethed.
"It's unconventional, how would you get the players' respect?" He replied angrily, clearly deviating from what the club had told him to say.
Satisfied that she now had the real reason for the decision, she exited the room, holding the official paper declining her application and the cheque for her trial work.

Once outside the office, she felt the anger disappear quickly and was soon struggling to stop tears falling. She was trying to leave when she came face to face with Neymar. It didn't take long for him to notice the unshed tears, and he gently took the piece of paper out of her hands.  She watched as his face fell while reading it and he immediately brought her into his arms.
"Ellie, I'm so sorry I know how much this meant to you," he said, keeping his voice calm and soothing but the annoyance was evident in his words.
"It'll be okay," he whispered and at this she broke down into his shoulder. After all this time she still found his presence comforting, despite them never working out, they'd quickly become best friends and she relied on him at times like these.
Soon enough, Eleanor collected herself and told him to get back to training, leaving to drive herself home. Instead of going straight there, she decided to stop off at Geri's house to tell him what happened. Knocking at the door, he let her in.
"So they told you?" He asked her.
"Yeah.." she responded before realising, "Wait, you knew about it? And you didn't tell me, warn me?" She questioned, on the verge of hysterics.
"Hey hey Ellie, calm down," he said, putting his arms around her.
"You know, I think it could be a good thing, you can focus on something more realistic now." He said in what he supposed was a supportive tone.
"And being a coach wasn't realistic was it?" She spat.
"Well no, you're a girl.. surely you'd rather get an office job? Secretary maybe?"
She could barely believe her ears, it was like he didn't even know her. She hadn't realised how much the sexism would hurt coming from her own brother.
"Why did you help me get the trial then?"
"Well I knew that soon enough you'd realise it's too difficult for someone like you to do!"
"Go fuck yourself Geri." She said, the quietest her voice had been since she came and she left, vaguely aware of her hands shaking. Had everyone there just been taking pity on her? Waiting for her to be sacked?

Getting back to her apartment (not entirely sure how she'd afford rent now without going to her brother as she needed to find a job) she did what she always did when she was upset; made hot chocolate,  got out the Nutella and huddled on the couch in about 50 blankets. Not feeling like thinking about what had happened, she turned on the TV, watching til she eventually fell asleep.

A/N: Just in case you are a barcelona fan, I'm not saying this is what the club is really like and I don't think that gerard is sexist but I'm just using a bit of artistic licence in order to help the story along so don't worry (:

Next Chapter she'll be calling her old friends and finding a new job (;
